I poured this from a 750ml corked and caged brown bottle into a tulip pint glass.
A= This ale poured a hazy brown with orange highlights. The head was way impressive for a barrel aged beer. Poured a 1/2" off white head that slowly dropped to a thin but solid cap.
S= The aroma of this beer was a hugely complex blend of spicy rye, fruity esters, vanilla, oak, and rye whiskey. Very very pleasant in the nose.
T= Flavor started with a fair bit of maltty sweetness backed by some sweet fruity esters. Then the rye from the beer and from the barrel kicked in to add a lot of spicy character. Vanilla and oaky notes completed the flavor onslaught. Finished boozy but relatively dry.
MF= Heavy side of medium bodied with a moderate to full carbonation level.
D= Though this was a deliciously complex beer, I was hard pressed to finish the bottle by myself. Just a lot of flavor going on here....
