Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Boulevard Amber Ale is an exceptionally well-balanced beer, complex yet thirst-quenching. American pale malt provides a firm foundation. English specialty malts impart a nutty sweetness, perfectly complemented by noble German hops. The deep coppery color holds the light, reflecting a ruddy glow, and the finish is clean, round, and delicious.

I poured this beer from a 12oz bottle into a clean pint class.

Appearance: Dark golden brown, head was very short however when held up to the light the foam sank and created an appearance of smoke coming from a smoker on a warm summer day.

Smell: smells of hops and malt.

Taste: A great taste of caramel malt and bread. The hops are very subtle to me and it goes down very smooth.

Mouth feel: This beer is so smooth that there are really no lingering flavors. Not bitter at all but a great malt/barley taste.

Overall: I think this is a slightly better than average beer. It is not a very bold but it has a great mild caramel malt taste and looks great in a glass. I think this beer would go great with any smoked meat like brisket or pork ribs with some smoked paprika in the rub. The lack of head really hurts the appearance. I think it would be a good alternitive to all the "white" citrus beers that are around in the summer.

- Crisp amber color with a pretty good sized, fluffy, pillowy, light, white head. Average retention with a thin ring of lace left.

S - Malt heavy. Grainy and caramel aroma are strongest on the nose. A fair amount of toasted bread also on the nose.

T - Like the nose, this is a pretty malty beer. Caramel, grain, and toasted bread all present. Nutty flavors also quite strong with faint fruity flavors (apples and subtle cherry). Some hoppy flavors come out with a grassy, earthy, and spicy hop flavor. This helps balance the malty sweetness.

This bottle had expiration date of 12/11,enjoyed while in K.C. MO. Color a nice copper, not much head or lace. The aroma improved as I drank this beer,a good sweet, malt robust yeast smell began to grab hold of me after an initial skunk odor. Fortunately the taste was better than the odor, and it too improved as I continued to finish the glass. No after taste, very smooth, would recommend again. I enjoyed this beer very much. A good blend of alcohol, malt, hops and carbonation! Im looking forward to another kind of Boulevard.

Bottle to pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a nice looking creamy off white head that slowly dissapates leaving behind a small amount of lacing. A truly amber colored beer with lots of tiny streams of lively carbonation. Tints of light red as well.

Smell: Lots of caramel, dark fruit, and fresh baked breads on the nose. A very, very, slight hint of booze.

Taste: Again, a lot of deep caramel notes followed by breadier flavors and just a little bit of nuttiness. There is also a very sweet lingering caramel aftertaste with just enough hop bitterness to balance the beer.

Mouthfeel: This is a bit on the thin side of things, but isn't such a bad thing as the lighter mouthfeel makes this quite a refreshing drink. The carbonation is lively, yet allows for a smooth finish.

Overall: This is a very straight forward and simple amber ale that manages to offer a good amount of flavor. A great dinner beer. I will definitely be having another.

This is one of my go to session beers. As far as looks go its hazy due to the bottle conditioning with a nice amber orange hue. The aroma has a nice sweetness to it with a malty backbone. The taste is very malty with the sweetness from the yeast used in it I believe. Overall its extremely drinkable and very refreshing.
