Notes/Commercial Description:
With roots in two of today's most popular brewing styles, 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer is the result of careful cultivation by our brewers and cellarmen. Their efforts to craft a hybrid yielded a bumper crop of flavor; a delightfully distinctive ale with the aroma of an IPA and the refreshing taste of a wheat beer.

A: Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. Had a golden yellow color and a cloudy texture. There was a big, foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A solid aroma of wheat, citrus, and some malt.

T: Tasted of a good amount of wheat, malt, citrus (especially lemon), and a slight graininess. A very light and sweet flavor. Different than what I expected, but worthwhile.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a slick finish. Light-bodied.

O: Better than most American Pale Wheat Ales. Light, easy to drink, and well done.

Cloudy golden hay color with a stalwart head. Smells like grass and bread dough. Unmistakable new tire smell too. A little sweet on the palette like sweet dough or a Twinkie with some grassy citrus. Soapy at times. Some prickly resin on the tongue for depth.

Interested to see how this stacks up against my fave APWL from NEBCo (no pun intended, really).

A: Attractive and bright. A sunny golden. Nice bubbling and overflowing head with a pure white color that compliments the beer perfectly. Better head retention

S: Sweet malt grains mostly. Hops come in with florals and some spice on the backing. Not as complex or differentiable, but good all the same.

M: Light bodied and highly effervescent. Smooth but has a nice sting to it.

T/O: Tart citrus lemon squeezes into a sweet pale crackery malt base, and they play off of each other very well. Light passionfruit sweetness and very nuanced. It has a really good flavor, don't get me wrong, but the overall experience lacks in something. I don't want to sound snobbish for a BA, but it doesn't seem as elegant; and NEBCo is brewing out of the back parking lot of a car dealership. What I mean is this beer is best for warm weather whereas NEBCo's Alpha Weizen I could but can't drink all yr round.
