Pours a beautiful dark red, and the off-white colored head sits two fingers high and is tight and foamy. A stream of bubbles parade from bottom up to top.
Smells like a dark fruit, oatmeal, some rye, coffee. Nice.
Already i can tell this is a different brew. Unique to my taste is the marriage of rye and coffee, which i pick up right away. But the balance is a good one. Coffee does not dominate. Hops are muted. There is a sweetness to it all, and then there is a prickly burn in the mouth. But still this is chewy. The body is fairly thick and there is plenty of carbonation. A different category for me. Not a new favorite, but certainly unique, very well done for what it presents itself as. I love coffee, and as far as all other coffee-involved brews ive tried (thus far), this one lends itself the most natural coffee taste in the mouth.
