Bottled in December 2013, best by 05/16/14 (a month after the date of this tasting).
A: Mildly hazy gold with a fizzy head of pure white. Soft, pillowy retention stays for the duration, as does a strand or two of lace.
S: A nose imbued with the flowery aromas of Noble-esque hops: lemon, fresh-cut grass, dandelion, and a touch of pine. Smells like refreshment on a hot day.
T&M: Crisp and drinkable, the palate leads with a rush of fizzy carbonation and a citrusy hop character. Mandarin orange, white peach, and lemongrass stand out above all else, though a wildflower flavor is buried not far beneath. The body has little weight, as well, making it that much more refreshing. Finishes with a subtle hint of bready pilsner malt (the only really saving this from being nothing more than a summery blend of hop oils and water) and the momentary snap of dry citrus rind.
O: Looks like session IPAs are a new trend in the world of American craft beer – and I couldn’t be happier. This one in particular is lawnmower beer at its finest. I’ll definitely be seeking it out by the six-pack when the weather (finally) gets a little warmer. Cheers.
