Tucks older brother, the Count is a mahogany slice of heaven. The soft malt nose with hints of fruit can be found in its medium bodied flavor profile. Let your hand warm the glass to bring out more notes.

Poured a clear dark amber with a light creamy head and decent lacing.

Smell is light and fruity with a bit of yeastyness.

Flavor is tart and crisp and with a light bit of sweet and fruit flavor and a bit of hot alcohol.

Mouthfeel is light and slightly creamy with a dry finish and a bit of a warming mouthfeel.

Not a bad effort, but lacks the depth and complexity of the great belgians. I would still drink this again.

On tap into a goblet at the brewery. Sign states abv is 10%

Modest off white had, ring around edge of glass, little head retention. No lacing. Beautiful orange/copper color and clear. The color makes up for the lack of head and saves the score.

Very spicy, fruity Belgian yeasty aroma. Banana esters kinda like a German wheat, but clearly the overall character is Belgian. Smell is very pleasant, but dominated by pungent yeasty influence.

Strong yeasty, spicy, fruity, very sweet malty influence. Later and warmer, the strong alcohol that had been hidden was prominent. A dryish but moderate bitterness appears and lingers through the almost clean finish.

Carbonation on the light side, very pleasant creamy texture, dryish bitter finish.

At first the 10% well hidden but it became bold later. If you don't like strong Belgian yeast flavors, you may not like this, as this brew was dominated by it. It's a bit unbalanced and off the mark compared to classic versions of the style, but also plenty drinkable. I'd have no qualms about having it again sometime, and would be proud to have made it.

A - The body is that of a purple mahogony with only a trace of head gracing her presence.

S - An oaky fig aroma is evident.

T - Fig and rum with a plum and whisky finish. The flavors overall sucome to a rather boozy taste that takes a bit away.

M - Very much a warming feel with a slight coarseness as it reaches the back of my throat.

~ Overall I'd say this is a decent drinker when it comes to hangin' with buddy's or if you'r looking to enjoy a nice brew with your wife. It keeps the conversation light while maintaining a serious topic. Just ask my buddy Toker.

A- No head, with an amber look and very still.

S- Semi sweet with fruit notes.

T- Sweet lots of candy taste, with a bit a tartness in the mix.

M- Some tingle but flat and thin.

D- Harsh not an easy drinker. I can take this one slowly but thats about it.

Good to try but I was hoping for more, I had this on my night back in town and might have been expecting too much.

Appearance: Amber color. Almost looks a dark purple in the lighting. Almost no head to speak of, same with lacing.

Smell: Somewhat yeasty and also fruity. Alcohol is noticeable.

Taste: Fruity sweetness, with yeasty, distinctly Belgian flavor. Slighty boozy as well.

Mouthfeel: Rich but rather thin, with a little sting from the alcohol.

Drinkability: The flavor is pleasant enough, but I wouldn't want more than one of these at a time.

Overall, this beer was an interesting drink for someone with very little experience with Belgian Strong Dark Ales. I would think this style would be be quite difficult to imitate. This seems to be a decent attempt at the style, but may not quite live up to many tried and true Belgians themselves. It hasn't instantly made me a fan of the style, but hasn't turned me off to it either. I'm intrigued and will pursue strong Belgians in the future.
