Good pour appearance; bad retention. The initial look is good, a hazy dark gold / light amber with a half inch ivroy head. Unfortunately the head leaves pronto and no lace is to be found. The smell is cooked veggies (broccoli or cauliflower?) With warming a bit of malt floats an aroma. The mouthfeel is quite crisp and the beer has body. Hops come in to moderate the sweetness and builds an herbal sense. Very little grain or bread sense for this style. Bitter in the front and peppery in the back. An interesting beer but not what I'm seeking in a Munchen style lager.

Upon its disemboguing the 12-ounce brown bottle, the beer pours the standard lager clear gold with a medium sized frothy white head that dissipates quickly leaving a thin bit of lace to conceal the glass. Nose is malt dominated and somewhat sweet as is the start, top is light in its feel to the palate. Finish is striking in its acidity and the hops benign in their bite, droughty aftertaste, a drinkable but average beer at best.

Light amber little head.. bad mouthfeel and not too much flavor. Carbonation is weak and the beer is almost flat.. taste like wet cardboard and really no overpowering of malt or hops. This leaves me with little drinkability factor as well as mouthfeel.

When poured into my glass, this beer had a medium sized white head with small-medium sized bubbles that was long lasting. The body was hazy with some carbonation observed and the hue was golden. I found the nose to be somewhat complex as I could not conclude what the nose was. The lacing with this beer was good on the sides of my glass. The flavor of this beer was malty and it had a smooth mouthfeel.

This beer poured a golden amber with tints of copper. There was a small white and foamy head that left a decent lace. There’s a pungent hop aroma here – like grass in a compost pile. Also smells of grains and some malt. Flavors blend nicely, even as this lager warmed up, beer got more flavorful. Mellow and light, goes down easy. Not bad.

This dark gold/amber beer was served with an off-white head. Clean, slightly malty aroma. Sweet malty taste. Decent bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel and good drinkability. Goes very well with a nice spicy pizza. A very solid lager that doesn't have that typical lager graininess. Worth a try.

This one pours a golden slightly hazed hue with a nice thick foaming head. Appearance is quite impressive here with a nice trickled lace forming and definitely good retention. Aroma is full of some biscuity malt tones with a mild hop background here, just enough to tease. The taste is full of cereal grains the sweetness is incredible, and definitely not an adjunct to be found here. Folks this is a lager, the way it's supposed to be done. Very crisp and well balanced in the sense that there is just enough bitterness to mellow out the sweet graininess, so that this beer isn't mistaken for candy. A great all around session beer that I am able to get in Morgantown, so cheers to that. The texture is pretty full for a lager, and it also has a slightly creamy texture nice job. Overall great beer, gets my seal of approval.

Deep liquid gold color and ample one finger white head. Medium carbonation of big slow flowing bubbles. Floral fragerance thats malty. Creamy malty taste and nearly perfect balance. Very drinkable beer; never boring--every sip is interesting. I believe I have found the perfect session beer.

Pure golden and unfiltered with decent carbonation and a moderate ivory head. Leaves good lace. Grainy malt aroma and taste. Slightly sweet with good balance but no real hop character. Medium bodied and creamy with a malty character all around.

Labelled as an "Old World Munich Helles" and brewed with Munich and Vienna malts and Saaz and Hallertau Hops.

The beer pours a nice orange-yellow color and is somewhat cloudy. The nose is quite fruity as is the beginning of the beer. There is a nice hoppiness to this beer that almost perfectly mixes with the fruitiness of the brew. The head is weak with little to no lacing left behind. As the you move to the middle of the beer the alcohol becomes apparent although it is fairly tame at 5.5%ABV. There is a slight metallic taste/odor towards the middle but it is not overwhelming. The malt kicks in to finish the beer with a nice mellow ending. Although this beer is not my favorite style I enjoyed it and would have another.

Pours an orange/golden with little to no head and big carbonation bubbles. Smell is slightly malty but faint. Seems to start dry but quickly hits you with a maltiness that really stands out but is not overly sweet. Is there such thing as dry maltiness? Perhaps it's curbed with a flavoring hop that I just can't identify. This starts dry (just momentarily) and finishes fuller. It's refreshing to find a lager with taste but it would appear that this is the norm for a Munchner Style Helles. This may be a bit darker for this style though

Not too bad at all! Considering the generic looking label and the word "Lager" taking up most of it, I did not have very high hopes. Never judge a book by its cover right? Crisp clear gold color with a very thick head. Faint malt aroma. Maltiness in flavor as well with just a touch of hops in the aftertaste. Very drinkable but I won't be going back to this one often because it is not anywhere near as good as Great Lakes' version.

A nice suprise this was. I got one bottle in a brewery sample pack, perhaps the best, most drinkable of all.A nice classic golden/amber color with a big bubble head that fades to a thin film fast.Lace is late, none at first but alittle toward mid-beer. Taste is a good balance of more malt than hop.Very drinkable & I hope to find this again soon in a more plentiful number.

Amber in color with an orange cast, topped by a frothy white head that dies quickly but leaves a decent collar and some light lace throughout the glass. The aroma is boldly malty - very Munich malt in character! The body is medium-light and the carbonation is moderate. It has a nice, lightly creamy mouthfeel. The flavor reflects the aroma with a smooth, rich, malty character that offers just a touch of hop flavor towards the finish. The bitterness plays a back-stage supporting role. The finish is dryish, and fairly short, with just some lingering maltiness. A very well done beer. Possibly my favorite from this brewery. Makes a good all-around beer. Worth trying.

I was impressed with this beer's overall quality. Much better than the mainstream swill. Hearty, well-balanced flavors. Crooked River is a brewery to look out for.

Complex aroma and a fairly tart front. Substantial body and a broad hops finish that was a little too lingering and out of balance.
