First time coming to Cable Beverages and was immediately in awe. Heard from this place by a couple of friends and was told to check it out. This place definitely doesn't disappoint. There is an incredible amount of variety around.

Each aisle is separated and organized by country. As far as I can remember, there's an aisle for Germany, Belgium, England and US breweries. There's a lot on the shelves, on the ground, in the fridges. There store is actually pretty small and cramped, but the selection of craft is incredible. Of course, there's the amount of the BMC cases stacked one after another on the sides.

The guys there give you time to look around by yourselves, but are very knowledgeable and helpful if you're ever in need. They do accept credit cards if you don't feel like using cash to pay - so that's always a plus. If you're ever near the area, this is definitely a hot spot to check out.

I walked in, and was immediately taken off-guard by the lack of space. Oh wait, this beer is stacked fine.. and most of what I looked at is fresh. I was able to find a good deal of beers that made the trek worthwhile. Dan was extremely helpful checking out my list as well.

Cable is definitely a super-janky place, and I think most anyone walking in would think its borderline shifty. Despite this, the selection here is often stunning and you will definitely have to sort through cramped, short aisles to look for bottles that literally fill the shelves to the brim, without rhyme or reason usually. There are some definitely awesome beers here and when you find them it is freakin' sweet (I've personally found Barrier, Cigar City, old Dogfish Head stuff, lots of Evil Twin) and it can make your next beer session. The guys that work there are dependable as heck and will talk beer for hours. This is a place that is always worth stopping at when you're nearby and even worth a special trip if your free time allows it.

As you can probably tell from the previous reviews, expect to have a unique experience when shopping here. Park anywhere you like in the lot (there are no real parking spaces). I tried entering through the door on the side near the front of the building (the one with the neon "OPEN" sign on it)... no luck. You have to enter at the rear of the building.

Inside, the aisles are narrow and the space is cramped. I asked for a basket to put beers in but the guy working said they don't use them because it's hard to turn in the aisles with them and you might knock something over. He's wasn't kidding and handed me a 6-pack holder instead. He was also very helpful and asked if I needed help finding anything. He even asked me what type of beer I like to drink to try to point me in the right direction.

The bottles are scattered and the shelves are stocked with no rhyme or reason. You really need to take your time while browsing and check bottle dates as some of the beer is undoubtedly old.

The growler selection was small yet amazing, with Bourbon County Brand Stout and Barleywine both on tap, all available in 16, 32, & 64 oz pours.

This could never be my regular go-to store given the chaotic layout but it was worth the trip from NJ. Just know what you're walking into before you go and enjoy the hunt!

Shopping in this establishment is a unique experience. The place is small, cramped, with an incredible assortment of beer. It's on shelves, in coolers, in boxes, on the floor - everywhere - with no discernible order. Some of it is really fresh and some really old; you have to be careful. The owner will help you find what you're looking for if they have it - which more than likely they do. It's best to come with a list but also with enough time to hunt for hidden treasures.

Been here a bunch of times, yet have never actually reviewed. This place is my go-to beer store, 15 minute drive for me. Despite the mentions of hard to find, found it pretty easily. Walking into the shop is walking into a beer-lovers paradise. Whenever I walk in first thing is check the counter, where they have new popular brews. The first two shelves facing the door, are filled with new limited-release bombers.
Continuing through the rest of the store, the aisles are pretty cramped, yet most of the time you can browse without issue. And browse you can, as there are bottles and bottles all over the place, you never know what you might come across. Despite seemingly lack of organization the aisles are pretty organized to region/style. There are also fridges along the back wall, filled with craft and another with macro. However, the best part of this awesome store are the growler fills, where they always have exciting brews on tap. Yet, I have never filled a growler, so why is it the best part? The answer is, the whole store smells like sticky juicy IPA's making you drool and crave some good beers.
The service is great as well, as whenever I am there i "schmooze" up the owners/workers. They are always happy to talk about beer, they know where everything is, and they are quite friendly to boot.
Overall, great place to pick up beer, whatever you like they have something for you.

Bizarro beer store. I'd never been here but I've heard good things, plus they have a great growler selection according to beermenus.com. Tiny, cramped place but with tons of variety, singles available, unintentionally aged stuff, new stuff, stuff I can't get in NJ. Caught some attitude from one of the guys here. Seemed like a strange character. Weird mix of beer hipsters and Spanish speaking BMC immigrants. Strange experience overall but I'll be back for sure.

A very tightly packed store with shelves overflowing with beers. Very hard to find specific beers but they know their stuff, you just need to ask someone if you can't find what you're looking for. Check your dates here as there's a lot of dust. Best selection in the area IMO, lots of International brews.

This place is quite the experience. My GPS tells me I'm there but I still almost passed it because its set back and the sign isn't easily seen. Pull into a tiny parking lot with cars just parked wherever they could find room. Walk around front and see no entrance, walk around back and its chaos, beers piled up everywhere. Looks like they are unloading so I think I missed something n walk back around front. Nada - walk around back again and finally see the tiny little entrance in the middle of stacks of beer. A few guys are playing a board game - I think dominos but I'm not sure. Then u walk in and your almost afraid to walk around because the isles are 2 feet wide and the beer is stacked to the ceiling. However, once u get past the weird vibe the people were friendly and helpful and they have an amazing selection of craft beers. Best to ask if you are looking for something in particular as its really tight and not very organized or if you have time just look around - but look closely as beers are jammed in everywhere. Great growler fill selection as well. Worth the ride up from NJ. I'm in the Wayne area of north jersey n it took me 40 minutes door to door. If u like craft beers and aren't skeered by a little bit of a sketchy look at first its well worth a visit. Unique spot.

I have been going to this place for years but I went yesterday and figured I would leave a little review since me and my bud always find this place quite the conversation topic,

Location: I feel like I drive past the place at least once or twice every time I try to go there because its located in the basement/back half of a gun store on a decent highway which also has stretch limos and escalades parked next to it so you really don't know what you're getting into when you pull in. Parking lot is very small and unorganized just cars scattered all about like they already came from the bar to re-up their stash.

Selection/Presentation: When you walk into this place it feels like someone stole 5 or six aisles/shelves from an old grocery store and jammed them into their old basement full of boxes of their old crap. Feels extremely ghetto and sketchy and uncomfortable, especially if you have been doing the beer thing for some time and your gut sticks out a bit it makes it a bit difficult to navigate the maybe 2 foot wide aisles between the "fleamarket" assortment of beers, (ladies don't bring in a big purse or a big bust). I don't want to say that they don't stock good beer because they do this place gets great stuff, the good stuff can just be hard to find at times because of the lack of organization in the clusterfuck shelving system. The last time I went I discovered a bud light golden wheat that probably had been sitting there for ten years, which I guess is kind of cool in a way that they do not rotate or clean out the old stuff If you want to find some old gems lying around, In my case I love to find old southern tier blackwater stuff like choklat and mokah lying around from past years they taste great now. The selection is just scattered randomly all across the aisles and boxes and dust are stacked anywhere and everywhere full of beer as if they were to challenge you to find the beer you really want so you really feel proud and great success if you can find what you came in for. Really just an awkward experience every time time I go in I feel like I am in some weird b-movie looking to get mugged.

Growlers: THIS PLACE IS GREAT FOR GROWLERS! these guys always seem to have something I am looking for on tap for growlers and the prices can't be beat locally, yesterdays list consist of: Alltechs Kentucky Bourbon Ale, Almanac Imperial Chocolate Stout, Barrier Atypical IPA, Carton 077XX DIPA, DFH burton baton, Evil Twin Freudian Slip, Finchs Hardcore Chimera IIPA, Oskar Blues GKNIGHT, Rushing Duck Divided by Zero IPA, Third Rail Innate IPA, and Thirsty Dog BBA siberian Night. Like I said great tap lineups with great pricing that's what always brings me into this place, don't let the outside scare you or the freaky redneck backwoodsy workers get in there and fill your glassware!

Conversation: While checking out yesterday (Bought 85$ worth of brew) the weirdo cashier wearing a bud light hoodie and chimay hat asked me if there was anything else I needed , I said to make sure you accept credit cards? to which he responded of course if it will make you spend more money why not , had a good laugh and grabbed two or three more bottles off the front display... also asked if they had any KBS laying around from its recent release last week... was told I could have only gotten it if I was in the raffle and lucky enough to win one , and that all of them had already been sold only to the lucky winners... fair enough, I love a good ole game of chance, even though I just walked into other local stores and bought several bottles without playing plinko! or lotto or dice or backgammon/roulette/rockpapescissor to get it out the door, its your store do what you like.. right?... Then while waiting for the 1982 credit card receipt printer to produce my paperwork he proceeded to ask me "do you even know what KBS stands for?", to which I replied immediately "Kentucky Breakfast Stout I believe sir" not really thinking much about it, he then continued to laugh in my face saying " NO NO NO how are you going to go out and try to get the rare beer if you do not even know what the name stands for it's Kosmickis Breakfast Stout. Read up and inform yourself if you're going to go around asking about it..." This guy was dead serious . I was blown away like I came to another planet , never seen a species quite like this before , belittling his customers with weirdo trivia like I was a circus attraction, Good day.

Overall:
Positives: Growlers/Humiliation Factor/ Ego-Boost
Negatives: Pretty much everything but hey he might sell you some 6 month old IPA from Defiant down the road and say he got it delivered yesterday, IF YOU'RE LUCKY.

check it out if you are in the area ! it's like a freak show one night stand, it'll give you something to talk about, and hopefully something to drink!

This place has a great selection of craft beers with many that are not distributed in NJ or no longer available due to being sold out, i.e. BCBS. Also, Cable has a nice rotating variety of growler fill beers in 4 sizes of vessels. As others have said, this place is not about wooing you with its visual appeal but rather with its great selection and fair pricing. Staff was knowledge, receptive to our questions, and appreciative of our business. I will definitely be going back to this great little gem.

What can I say about this place that hasn't been said before? Best selection in Rockland county, tough to navigate with tightly packed aisles. It feels like walking into a cave, they are not about the presentation, just about the beer. Fantastic selection of beer, six tap lines for growler fills. Great pricing too, the staff knows their beer and is always willing to talk about it. Be sure to take your time and look around there are a lot of hidden treasures. Just an amazing place to buy beer

I started coming to Cable Beverages over from North Jersey about 6 months ago after reffing some soccer games down the street and of all things having Aprihop before Jersey got theirs. Pulling up, I needed to check and make sure I was at the right place, completely non-discreet from the road.

Walking in I was greeted and instantly noticed cases upon cases everywhere, warehouse shelving holding mostly bombers and the occasional 4/6 pack in the middle, refrigerated 8 (estimated) door cooler in the back. At first organization really looks like a mishmash, but it’s cider/mead, foreign, Belgians, US for the remaining 3.

They really have an amazing selection, and get much more "rares" then where I normally shop in NJ, (at least 8 cases of Double Trouble, more BCBS than I could count).

Service is pretty good, if you are looking for specific styles/what’s new they instantly know and the more they see your face, the quicker the answers will come (instantly got told the newest Saisons were on a spring visit, walking in the door).

Anytime I'm in the area I stop by, North Jersey does not have growler fills at stores, another plus for Cable, as they usually have 7 very good quality brews on at a time.

I finally got to this place today and sorry I hadn't gotten there sooner. I found Thomas Hardy Ales in ample supply and will go back tomorrow to buy out most of this. Great selection and if you're looking for barleywines or beers with high ABV's, you're in luck as the joint's temperature is perfect for aging beer. The workers are very knowledgeable about beer as well as their inventory. They have beers on draft as well so bring your growlers or anything that you want filled.

Had heard of this place originally from someone who worked at a beer store in Clifton, NJ. Unfortunately, it took me a number of months to get there but I'm glad I finally did. It's not the best organized place but believe me, very well worth the trip. If you're looking for something that may be a couple of years out of production this is the place. Good chance you'll find it here...but don't take my barleywine before I buy out his stock. :)
