Roasted malt nose but no other noticeable flavor. The mouth is still highly diluted and it feels like to drink flavored water, slightly bitter. This bitterness is also to forget unless you like the artificiality. Not really tasty and little to enjoy. In the same style of beer, the English models are light years away.

Tap slap at La Sylene, Toulouse, France. Clear brown brew, acceptable foam.
Caramel malt on the nose.
Taste is the same caramel maltiness, very small hop chirp. Way too sweet. Tinniness on the syrupy finish.
Mouth is medium full. Mid carb.
Overall, it’s a cafe sipper. I know to not go back for another.,.

Bought in Kigali, Rwanda. Poured from the tall can into a pint glass. The beer is a deep dark red with a slight haze. Head is off white and jumped up quickly.
Smell was caramel and brown sugar malt with a bit of a clean finish. Mostly sweet.
Taste was similar. Oddly sugary with caramel and cola notes. Toast is in there. Sweet with some dark fruits. Finishes with an odd kind of medicinal taste but then is quickly covered by that sugary taste again.
This was an OK different find here in Rwanda. I think if I weren't here I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but a good change of pace from Euro pale lagers here. Not my favorite but not bad.

First things first, the beer is old - not J-Lo old, but a bit old that the flavor was probably still affected a lil. That being said, it was a fine Brown like Dustin winning the cup for the Kings a second time in 2014. Yes, Raul, I know it’s 2021, but one can still remember fond memories, right?

Arras 2019, Clear chestnut brown with a good head. Sweet, mild malt nose. Sweet caramel and honey to taste. Very smooth but too sweet for my taste.

Tried this in Paris. Didn't see a lot of dark beers and so this was welcome. L. Deep reddish brown colour, modest pale head that fades to lacing. S. Not a lot, some caramel/malt/dark fruit. T. Solid caramel/malt flavour with a hint of fruit that fades to dry, slightly bitter finish. F. Medium body with moderate carbonation. O. Better overall than the above might suggest! A very enjoyable, drinkable brown ale.

Pours a dark burgundy-brown that is clear when held up to the light. Head formation is khaki in color and retains fairly well. Aroma is caramel, with a touch of honey and a kiss of bitter coffee. Overall, it comes off sweet, with the coffee balancing it out well. Flavor profile is more caramel and honey on the sweet side of the scale, with coffee balancing it out nicely. Mouth feel is a touchy fizzy, but it still carries a velvety feeling that lends itself well for a medium thickness. Overall, a delightful beer that balanced sweet and bitter.

I thought it had a very good, full flavor. Nice darkish color but not super dark.

Review: big 65cl bottle of Pelforth Brune: ABV: 6.5%
Coming in a pretty nice looking 65cl bottle with a swing cap
The appearance was of a nice enough dark brown colour with ruby red highlights that had a head which reduced dramatically in size.
Some decent lacing but overall nothing special to look at.
For the aroma I got a sweet initial smell of caramel malts but overall not a whole lot on the nose, very faint and not a lot going on.
On Taste got a very smooth drink, very easy to drink, nice mouthfuls, very smooth.
Not strong tasting, but did gets hints of caramel and plums and other fruits, but overall, truth be told, I struggled to get any real taste, some malts…….not much else, and no presence of hops.
Dark chocolate as well. A Coca cola style taste, lots of malts but no alcohol.
Very smooth, pleasant and nice to drink, but for me it doesn’t taste at all like a beer but more a strong version of coke with added sugar. Bland and disappointing all things considering.
Some critics have compared this to an English ale, particularly Newcastle Brown Ale, while some even have found a likeness to porter. For me I just cant see these comparisons at all, yeah perhaps in appearance but definitely not in taste. The Pelforth Brune, for me, is just too sweet, far too sugary, too smooth and flavourless, and nothing at all like an English ale or porter. Disappointing.

33cl bottle into matching glass in Paris.
Pours a clear copper color with quarter inch of tan foam. The nose is full of tons of caramel with an almost a soda like caramel scent. Not much else going on, maybe a touch of bread. Slight mint? More caramel and slight bread crust in the flavor with a strange minty and peppery hop finish. Lingering spicy hops in the aftertaste. Flavor is mostly caramel. Medium body, fairly crisp but still sweet. Drying though. One denominational and mediocre at best, but not offensive or necessarily bad.
