I have been here many, many times. If I weren't so particular w/ favorite styles, I'd probably be working on a plate. (I probably should have gotten one anyway. Maybe I still will someday. We'll see.) So I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed this place yet. Let's go!
Great location - old building in downtown Fort Worth, Sundance Square. If the parking lot behind the place is full, there's a huge garage a few blocks away on Calhoun, & the area is very walkable. 2 stories. Downstairs bar area & living room area, upstairs bar area (recently remodeled), & outdoor areas both down & upstairs (for the smokers). A minus on the atmosphere though - usually the place is very busy on nights/weekends, so sometimes it's a bit too crowded for my liking. Usually I go on weeknights - weekends there's often a small cover for a band I really don't care about - I'm there for the beer.
Lots & lots of taps & bottles. (Go to the website if you want specifics.) They'll put the new stuff up on a chalkboard over the bar, which is helpful; however, sometimes they've been out of something I've asked for, which was a bummer. But overall very good selection, probably the best for Tarrant County bars.
They also have specials for the day of the week - Texas pint night, beer glass night...& my favorite, trivia on Tuesdays (which, if you're smart enough, can result in gift certificates to make your beer free).
Food - everything I've gotten has been good, but nothing outrageous - fairly standard bar food. They also have free popcorn, which rocks.
Service - it used to be hit or miss, but lately is mostly hit, since a lot of the servers know my group of friends now. It is understandable though - I've only had bad service when it's very busy, although it often is. For beer knowledge - some of the gals know about beer, & some of them don't know very much...but they are usually very nice, even if they aren't all beer nerds. For the guys - they all wear short plaid schoolgirl skirts. But I've had more good experiences than bad ones (otherwise I wouldn't keep coming back).
Value is pretty reasonable for the most part. Not cheap, but usually reasonable for what you are getting.
If you like beer, & you're in Fort Worth, you just have to go here - it simply is the best place for beer in the area.
