The food is quite wonderful bar fare--quesadillas, fish tacos, quality pizzas, and a crazy-cheap steak special on Sundays. The atmosphere is often dependent on the bartender and his or her control of the CD player (they exercise veto power over all jukebox selections). Service is also inconsistent, as the staff seems selective upon whom receives quick service and whom should be made to wait. The value is solid as far as food is concerned.

Although they always have a Bells and some varied European selections on -tap (Hoegaarden, Stella, Bass, Guinness, most recently) the beer offerings are far from stellar. A good place to grab a late night bite, but not necessarily a great place to sample a wide selection of beers.

Maybe this place has recently taken a turn for the worst, but beer bar? I think not.

Came in here on a Sunday. Atmosphere was chill and decent with groups of friends hanging out drinking. Server was a bit snarky; I really didn't hear her question but she made it seem like I was an idiot. It's fine, I get that a lot.

Beer selection? No. Maybe it's just me coming from the West Coast but if your line-up is Guinness, Hoegaarden, Lagunitas IPA and Magic Hat #9 then I might as well go to Applebee's. I ended up getting a draft Yuengling for old time's sake.

Pulled pork sandwich wasn't amazing but was pretty good and large for the price.

As a bar: decent if not maybe above average because of the chill vibe.
As a beer bar: Just say no.

This was my last stop of the night on my Short North crawl. The draft selection leaves much to be considered. They only had about 10 draft beers, and of those, only three were craft. With the limited selection, I chose the Goose Island seasonal. Upon investigation, the barstaff didnt really know what was going on with the beers. To me, a service person either uninformed or ignorant is unaccaptable. There seem to be pockets of good places in downtown Columbus, but some of them are really hit and miss.

One of our favorites in Short North. The Press Grille is always dependable for good, cheap food and drinks. It's a long, narrow place near the corner of Buttles Ave. and High St. Although it's small, you can always find a seat. Dim-lighting and good music make it a great place for a night out or a quick bite to eat. Lots of local artists displayed on the walls.

Good selection of beers on tap like Bell's, Columbus Brewing Company, and some European favorites. A few more beers bottled, too.

Food has always been very cheap and quite good. My favorites are the pair of Nathan's Famous hotdogs and the chicken quesadilla.

Wait staff are very friendly; the owner is usually there himself.

Overall, a very good place and worth a visit.

Press Grille is in the Short North near the intersection of High and 1st. There is a lot of street parking around but it may be hard to find an open meter depending on what day it is.

Inside, the space is very narrow and cozy. The bar is on the right side and the tables are on the left, leaving only a narrow walkway between. The bar is nice dark wood and stainless steel. There are a lot of mirrors and a dark burgundy motif permeates. There are a few TVs at the back of the bar as well, and the grill where they make all the food is at the far end.

The beer selection is small, but the focus is away from domestic macros. On tap you can get Bell's, Stella Artois, Guinness, CBC etc. As for bottles there is Bell's, Sierra Nevada, Chimay and some other of the like.

The service here is pretty good. The bartender was handling both food and drink service at the bar and we never felt neglected.

The food here is really good. I had the Teriyaki Chicken sandwich special with wedge fries and it was wonderful. My wife liked the buffalo shrimp too. I did see a couple burgers and a pizza being served and I am definitely going to try one of them next time, they looked awesome.

In a nutshell, I wouldn't go here just for the beer but if you are a fan of smaller, laid back places with great food and a beer or two you will enjoy then this is a good place to try.

Interesting little stop in the Short North. Inside is somewhat dark with burgundy walls. The tap selection is decent, not outstanding. The bottle list is about the same. Beer is not really what to come here for, it is the food. I highly recommend the press burger, which comes topped with a fried egg. Delicious, despite the possible onset of a heart attack. The service was good. I liked the fact that one of the cooks found out that an order was not right, cooked something to order and brought it out to the table rather quickly. Alll in all, a fun little place to have a bite, and a beer.

This is a fun beer stop. Some of the usual suspects on tap, and there are a fair number of them, plus a goodly number of bottled beers. A neat little pub type place, it's crowded even on weekdays. Friendly and helpful waitstaff. Parking in the area is an issue.
