Formerly Oyster Stout
A few pearls about our stout. It’s a nod to classic English Oyster Stouts often complimented by (but not containing) shellfish. Hints of chocolate, coffee and sweet treacle flavours and yet quite smooth and clean-tasting. Not that we’d ever crow about it.

Bottle picked up as part of the LCBO's winter release. Mostly picked it up for the name.
Handsome bottle design I have to say.
Poured into a nonic. Dark chestnut/black in colour, left a half-inch of frothy mocha head. Receded fairly quickly, leaving only a razor thin ring and a few flakes of lacing.
Nose is nice and roasty with notes of chocolate, and mocha. A touch of mineral and something very strange I can't quite name - almost cheesy. Mild.
A decent-tasting stout, but certainly on the thin side. The typical milk stout tasting notes of chocolate, mocha, and light cream are certainly present, but are far too muted to really make a lasting impact, especially when challenged by a tinny, mineral character and the tea-like hop flavor. An interesting leeky flavor as well. As I work my way through the pint, I'm finding I'm not really digging the flavor - far too mild to be calling itself a stout.
Body is too thin, almost watery, with unnecessarily harsh carbonation. Really killing it for me.
Because the flavors are a bit washed out, this beer could have been great as an easy quaffer - something one could down with a plateful of oysters or scallops. But with such a thin body, harsh carbonation and mixed bag of flavors, this one didn't really do it for me. Felt more like an English mild brown ale than a stout. I could certainly down a pint or two of this, but there are better stouts and browns to be had instead, ones that blast the flavors rather than muffle them.

Pours pitch black and shiny. Completely opaque. Thin mocha colored head dissipated rather quickly leaving no residual head. Thinking of foam lingers on the outside of the beer.
Aroma has notes of roasted malts and barley, light notes of lactose, chocolate, and a hint of salinity is noted. Overall its actually kind of reminiscent on the nose of a Guinness draught.
Taste has notes of roasted malts and barley, some bakers cocoa and a bit of lactose. Earthy bitterness and some salinity come through on the back end. The biggest drawback is that the whole profile seems watered down. If those flavors were more robust, this would be a very nice stout.
Feel is light bodied, sessionable, and quite smooth. Lively moderate carbonation. Semi-dry finish.
Overall this is a solid stout - albeit lacking the robustness needed to really make this a great beer that I'd want to drink again.

Low carbonation, very little head. Pours a black coffee color. Smells malty and of roasted malt barley. Taste is creamy and smooth with mild bitterness. Easy drinking stout.

A- Pours a dark chocolate/coffee/root beer like color with a reasonably modest head that is caramel colored itself. Too hard to see obviously how the carbonation is on this one but the lacing is quite well done, with many small bubble patches clinging to the side of the glass. The head could have a little more oomph to it, but otherwise not a bad looking Stout!
S- I am detecting chocolate aromas, blended in with mildly roasty malts, toffee/caramel sweetness, perhaps some yeasty qualities and fainty malted coffee smells.....overall this smells on the sweeter end of the spectrum and it is mild.
T- This one has a reasonably basic flavor profile, with an actually heavy dry burnt malt flavor, but other than this it is of cocoa (unsweetened), mild yeast, weak coffee that perhaps sat out a day, toasted oat and a finish that is in your face, but then quickly fades without any real lingering aftertaste. Nothing offensive but nothing exciting here either!
M/O- This one is too carbonated for my liking, however the fizz is tight but it doesn't allow the palate to really experience the true character. Balancing is ok, but another shot of the alcohol would help round it out better in my opinion. Its drinkable enough and may be better with a meal but in general, this is a light bodied and is a little too bland for what I was hoping. It's good, not great.

Pours a near jet black body with a fair amount of tan head which quickly dissipates to yield a film. The aroma has sweet, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and banana. The taste has a mild bitterness, with coffee dominating the palate with a caramel and toffee finish. The finish is quite smooth and matches the style well. Overall, a bit watery, but I think it is generally a good beer.
