(purchased at Binny's on Marcey - poured into a proper British pint)

A: clear, dark brown liquid with strong ruby highlights... tall, fairly medium brown head on the pour, falls down in short time, but leaves a nice, messy cap - full coverage... the foam initially had a look as though the beer's cleanliness might be in question... we'll see...

S: you notice right away that something is off, or rather, different... starts off with a clean sort of wet slate scent, soon pulling through dry coffee grounds and a bit of toffee on the end... a shy overall smell that takes a strong whiff to get to whisper

T: again, coffee grounds with a vaguely molasses, sort of hard-baked, dark cookie flavor in the finish... fairly malty all through, showing some citrus pith-y bitterness and tang in the middle... roasted notes rise up quietly toward the finish and are somewhat rounded off, tempered by a moderate, lactose sort of bittersweet-ness - though not all that sweet... hops in the aftertaste?

M: pretty silky smooth with a soft, static, roasty buzz on top... a texture I've come across in a few darker British bottles... dry drop, though it leaves a little residual film... satisfying for what it is

O: by the end, pretty nice... pleasant degree of roast and body for what it is... I would have this again for sure - try to pair it with some selections from the raw bar though

500ml bottle. Pint glass. Roasted, burnt & floral aromas as cap is removed. Pours black in color showing very dark ruby tints to the light. Head is beige, creamy, close & lasting. Dried nuts, hints of wood, black coffee infusion & roasted grain are displayed to the nose. Roasted, burnt & watery upfront. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Silky palate & subtle spicy touch. Hints of bitter cocoa, well balanced malts & hops & dried sensation. Sweet finish & slight hop on the aftertaste. Nice drinkability.

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 2 fingers of fast falling, rocky, mocha colored head. Alright lacing & near zero head retention

S: Dark fruit, figs & jammyness

T: Dark fruit, a touch of iron, leafy hops up front. Faint molasses notes, a touch of figs , & carob as this warms. Finishes slightly fruity with a bit of carob & iron

MF: Light body, very slight carbonation

Very tame take on the style not bad, but not good either

Loved this brewery's beer on cask in the UK, these small beers just don't travel well...

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that quickly died down, leaving only a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of dark and roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell, except that the roasted malts seem a little muted and there are some additional hints of chocolate malts and brine. No sweetness is perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems to exhibit most of the characteristics of a milk/sweet stout, except that is a little lighter in body and doesn't have any sweetness.

A tasty, easy to drink sweet stout that is a pleasure to drink

taste: chocolate, plum. raison, slight lemon and spice with some red wine

quite sweet but not over done and well balanced with many nice flavours coming through on the palate. Would be very happy to have it again.
