EPA stands for English Pale Ale. And the stilt walker on the label is an original hop picker - in this case Cascade and Styrian hops. They give it the subtle citrus flavours and delicate bitter aftertaste. An easy-drinking, refreshing, light, golden ale which will appeal to ale and lager drinkers. And the occasional stilt walker.

A beer with an identity crisis! EPA actually stands for Extra Pale Ale (hence the colour). Although there is a UK version of cascade it’s not wildly different than the US version. Styrian is Austrian. Tastes OK.

Poured from a bottle into an Ikea large beer glass. Not a lot of head, but a delightful golden colour. Slightly citrus smell of hops. Taste is good for a session ale; starts with a slight bitterness, an undercurrent of malt and then a lingering bitterness at the end. An good beer for any one who appreciates the taste of traditional pale ale. When I bought a few bottles the other the day, the old gentleman at the cash registers said, "You like the old style, this is a good one." He was right.

L- Mid to dark amber, clear, pours with thin white head.
S- Some pleasant grainyness, possibly mild fruity hints.
T- It's strikingly dry, with some very subtle fruit-notes lurking in the background. It comes over as quite a low ABV% (I'll check the bottle later), so that it's dry/thin/a bit fruity.
F- It might work better for me on a really hot day literally as a refreshment. Maybe it's this style, but it seems to lack body to me, ie any meat on it's bones.
O- It doesn't work for me, there is not enough satisfaction gained from it. Disappointing I invariably enjoy Marton's beers.
Bought from a big branch os Sainbury in London. 500ml bottle, cost £1 which is unusually inexpensive!
p.s. Just now I rechecked the bottle and see it's as low as 3.6%, that explains a good part of why I found it's underwhelming; I find the lower the ABV% the less foundations a beer has to build a good overall profile upon it.

Yeah, it is ok. Nothing special. Bland but drinkable. Smell is sour and slightly sulphurous. How can it be English when it has foreign hops??? Hop taste is weak. Not recognisable. Bitterness and carbonation go well together. If a friend passes you this at a BBQ....accept it as it is not the end of the world.

Disappointed, it tasted more like a pilsner beer, except with a kind of artificial taste. BrewDog still make best pale ales I've tasted.

Golden yellow beer, very clear; abundant but not very persistent white foam with medium texture.
The aroma is initially malt, mou and biscuit, followed by hops with aromas of berries (especially blueberry) and floral; the yeast provides light spicy notes; alcohol is barely perceptible. The taste is similar to the aroma, with the opening of mou and toasted cereals; hops always tending to blueberry and floral; the spicy yeast (pepper and cinnamon) is more present, but always in the background; light body, medium and very fine carbonation; astringent and slightly bitter closure, which facilitates drinking.
It's a high fermentation beer with a decidedly low alcohol content (3.5%) and a light and refreshing body. All in all it's a balanced beer with a clean and not very demanding profile, perhaps even too much compared to the standard. Good Ale, but exaggeratedly compliant with dozens of other beers in circulation. Anonymous, without infamy and without praise.
