A: poured from a 500 ml bottle into a glass, red brown amber colored with a large white head that lingers leaving good lacing, clear

S: light English hop smell, breast malt, nose is weak

T: hop presence is small, emphasis is on malt, a little twinge of sulfur water carbonation, slight oak

M: lighter with lower carbonation

O: not bad but nothing amazing, true to English pale ale roots with good malt flavor

500ml Bottle, just out of date when poured into a UK pint sleeve on 5 Apr 2013.

Looked OK, amber body with a fast disappearing head.

The nose was malty with off/sour-fruit notes.

The taste is semi-sweet, malty with fruits, not so sour as the aroma suggested. Caramel flavours give the beer its base taste, they overshaddow any other characters and the beer becomes just a caramel, malty brew. The beer is too one dimensional in my opinion.

OK but not as good as the old rich, creamy Pedigree I remember from my youth.

Poured at the Huntsman, Bath, England, with a Betty Lunn bun on the side.

A: Clear, golden with a tan half finger head that ran off quickly for an open air bus tour. Nice lacing, like the curtains at the Jane Austin museum.

S: Malts and hops. A classic dance of caramel and wheat.

T: Light malts come buzzing in. Creamy. Semi-sweet.

M: Light, watery, low carbonation.

O: A little higher in ABV that most cask ales. Smooth and sessionable.

You know not all bad a beer...

Golden/honey amber body with a rich thick white head
and a nice aroma of crystal malt and hops.

Nice wheat taste mingling with malt building up to peppery bitterness with salted caramel hints and subtle hop flavours running throughout.

Mouthfeel and and carb give a nice thirst quenching beer

just why oh why are Marstons making so many English pale ales,
not terrible beers just not terribly exciting.
