Well. We gotta call it as we see it. This used to be THE place for happy hour, where else could you get 1/2 price craft and 1/2 price hot wings? $2.50 Celebration pints right after Christmas? I'd go twice a week minimum. Well those days seem to be over, any decent craft (example Jai Alai?) is now $1 off happy hour? Jai Alai? Stick that fucking dollar somewhere, rather go to Capones pay the xtra $1 get $.25 wings and better service. When you change what makes you unique, you become one of the rest.
That being said they still have probably the best french onion soup I've had, we will return for that.

Great place for a night out! Great beer selection and good food! TVs on every wall. The crowd is made up of mostly local people and are extremely friendly. Very much worth a trip there!
Prices are average for a sports bar. During happy hour (Monday - Friday 4:00 to 6:00) many beers are discounted and starters are half price!

Chaps advertizes itself as a sportsbar and there are numerous TVs scattered throughout the bar area. They now have a big-screen TV in the new, expanded dining area. The nachos and chicken fingers were good and the wings were actually very good. The atmosphere is somewhat lacking as a good number of people are there for the TVs. In the past, it has been a bit smoky, but I didn't notice it so much on this latest visit.
The beer selection has always been good there, with six to eight quality micros on tap, but on my most recent visit they seem to have kicked it up a notch. This tap list included Hennepin, Otter Creek Copper Ale, Sly Fox Pils, Stoudt's Scarlet Lady, Victory Hop Devil among others. Not many extreme beers on tap, but plenty of session beers in case you're staying to watch the whole game. The bottle selection is pretty decent also with Belgian, English and German beers available. All in all, a very unpretentious place with a surprisingly good beer selection.

Chap's is a comfortable, good-sized bar/restaurant in Jeffersonville/Collegeville that's right across the street from the Moody Monkey. There's a roomy parking lot outside; and in addition to their large island bar inside, they've got a decent sized dining room with some comfortable booths. It's nicely appointed with new wood paneling, carpet and tiles; and they've utilized a fairly generic, dark creme and muddy maroon/burgundy color theme. It's clean and well run. Seeing as how it's mainly a sports bar there are plenty of big screen TV's around as well as a pool table, digital jukebox, Golden Tee golf machine and electronic darts. The food is basic but good, and they run specials every night. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 4:30 - 6:30, and Tuesday is "Micro Tuesday" with $2.50 pints after 6:30. And "Kids Eat Free" on Tuesday as well. Wednesday is "Mussel Wednesday" with a large bowl for $7.95 from 4pm until midnight. Friday and Saturday are "Prime Rib" nights at just $15.95; and on Sunday they run $9.95 dinner specials. There are 22 taps with few clunkers and a good selection of bottles to choose from (Duval, Fuller's Vintage, most of the Samuel Smith's line, Orval, all 3 Chimay's in 750 ml's, Stoudt's Abbey Triple, etc.). The regular taps include the not-so-holy trinity of Guinness/Bass/Harp, as well as the double-edged sword of Heineken/Amstel Light and Molson and Labatt Blue to round things out. But the rotating selections from Flying Fish, Sly Fox, Victory, Troegs, Harpoon, Stoudts, Sierra Nevada, Dogfish Head and Sam Adams more than make up for any inadequacies that their basic draft selection might have. I've encountered poor, disrespectful service as well as warm, caring service so I guess that's just a crap-shoot but overall I'd say that's about average these days.

Atmosphere: Sports Bar, tons of TV's, Video games and a couple of pool tables. Nice and clean, not overly worn out and the smoke is not to back. Normally pretty busy with a younger crowd.
Quality: The beers are always fresh ( they use 1/6 kegs for some of there micro's), just make sure you ask the bartender for a warm pint glass, otherwise you are going to get your beer in a frosted pint glass.
Service: My glass does not stay empty for very long, the food comes out quickly and the bartenders are nice.
Selection: At least 8 micros on tap, a good import or two and 20+ plus great bottles.
Food: Good food from the apps, sandwiches and entrees. All reasonably priced and good portions.
Overall: Is this worth traveling to? Probably not, but if your in the area it is worth a stop ( across the street is the Moody Monkey ). I do respect a bar that has good beer and probably does not need to, they would still be successful as a sports bar serving B/C/M. Kudos for Tuesday night $2.50 Micro Pints.
