This is a fairly large Total Wine but the section offered to craft beer seemed somewhat smaller than other Total Wines in the area. Decent local selection though.

Another good Total Wine mainly because there is no tax and it is close to the highway. I tipped to stock up on Bourbon because their prices were good, but it had a good selection on beer.

Decent chain store with good craft beer selection, tons of Dogfish. Lots from Mid-Atlantic and some oddball imports too. Be prepared for some crowds though, aisles are very narrow and makes browsing difficult.

This place is amazing. The selections in liquor, wine and of course beer is unending. If they don't have it, it hasn't been made. Hundreds of beer selections in bottles, cans, kegs and a growler station will make any beer enthusiasts feel like he's died and gone to heaven.

The infamous Total Wine of the borderlands! Truly massive and rather busy, but mostly wine and spirits. The beer is almost like an afterthought here...

I do like their growler station, with 24 handles and good stuff including Merry Monks, Palo Santo, Brooklyn Blast... also their mix-and-match singles section, divided in style or region (odd to see "New York", "Boston" instead of "IPA", "Porter" and what not).

Nothing terribly amazing here. This is not the place for your special releases or barrel-aged brews, but it is a good place for daily beer needs at excellent prices. They do have a lot of four-packs (at room temperature unfortunately) priced nicely: $7,99 for Victory Dirtwolf, $11.99 for Burton Baton.

No help on the beer section but friendly wine folks. I prefer the NJ stores for variety, but you can't beat the prices here in DE.

Well it is yet another Total Wine store. The ambience is pretty much the same, however this one is at first a little misleading.

From the outside the store is very large, and when you enter you see a vast wine section to the left of you. THe beer however is nestled to the right, in generic shelves with industrial white flooring in about 2 -3 rows. It really only seems to take up about 5% of the store.

Selection is varied, with the mix a six options but many of the items are also old as per typical TW. The seasonals and new arrivals selection is quite large, but it's diversity is lacking as it seems to be focused on bulk. There were lots of Octoberfest, and Pumpkin beers here already and mostly in quantity not in variety.

Staff though is very solid and helpful. I spoke on the phone before I arrived asking when shipments were coming in or deliveries and they told me with no problem about when items arrive. I hated the idea coming right after a weekend to see a bunch of empty shelves. Still as for someone who lives in the DC area the selection here isn't that much different, it's much of the same regular brews you find.

The store also carries some spirits as well with the wine.

Very reasonable and inexpensive for prices due to not being in a large metro area and no sales taxes. If I lived close enough, I could probably become a regular, but I don't see myself going all the way out here often, most of what I saw here I can get elsewhere.

I live about fifteen minutes away from here in Pennsylvania, so I tend to hop the border for a quick beer run free of ridiculous prices.

Atmosphere: It's nicely set up, a fairly large store. However, it gets crazy crowded at times, to the point of where I can't look at beer for more than a few seconds without someone blocking me (This mainly occurs around the cooler area). Still, overall it's not bad.

Quality: The beer is usually pretty fresh, but there are a few times where I've mistakenly bought expired beer. However, it's not anything atrocious like a year past the bottling date. Just a few months old.

Service: Never asked for help, but the cashiers are just your average cashiers. Nothing to note here, really.

Selection: A great selection of singles, which is by far their best quality. You can do the pick a six thing, where you get an empty six pack and pick six singles of your choice; it's nice not having to stick 18 singles loosely into a cart. They don't have a bad selection of cold beer either, but the singles are definitely the highlight.

Value: It's cheap as hell to me, but then again I'm from Pennsylvania, the bastard state of beer pricing. I also buy beer from an Acme in New Jersey pretty regularly, and the prices here are pretty comparable, just no tax, which is cool.

Overall: If you're close by, have a stop. It certainly couldn't hurt, and you could do a lot worse.

I'm prolly gonna' have the PA taxman cometh after me just for writing this up, but after stopping in the Total Wines in Union and Cherry Hill, NJ, I finally made it down to Claymont. What others have said about DE not getting as much of a selection is true (seemed relatively lacking in a lot of midwest and west coast breweries for the size of the place). Service is based on the answer to my question about a variety 12-pack of Dogfish being a look at me like I had two heads. Also not as much of a rip-off as it once was on the bottle deposit since it's just a one-time fee of 4 cents each now. One more note about picking up wine/liquor. A quick glance found prices to be a bit higher on what I would find at the state store in PA (ok, it was limited to a big bottle of Finlandia and what seemed like a $10 bottle of Beaujolais).

Been to Total Wine Claymont several times and it is by far the most affordable and biggest selection of single bottles you can find anywhere. From make your own 6 packs to different variet packs, 4 and 6 packs of different beers and some cases, to bombers, it is a huge selection of craft beer. Good selection of Dogfish, Stoudts, Flying Dog and many local breweries. Along with a few hard to find bottles such as Mikkeler and Brewdog.

Overall I recommend anyone in the area of Total Wine to check it out, you will not be dissapointed.

A huge supermarket of beer, wine, and liquor. The biggest and by far busiest Total Wine I've been in and I've checked out a bunch. This place was absolutely insane on a Sunday afternoon in December with folks stocking up for the holidays.

Tons of beer in every imaginable form, be it singles, bombers, sixers, cases, mixed variety packs, BMC macro, whatever. Cases of Yuengling were something like 14 bucks.

No sales tax makes this a very inexpensive place to shop. Like all the total wines you can make your own sixes and there's a huge selection of individual bottles. Everything that gets distro to the state is here.

My favorite part of this store was finding extremely fresh Dogfish Head beers on the shelf...stuff bottled within the last 2 weeks or so. The same was true of Stoudts. They also had a variety of bottles from other Delaware breweries I hadn't run across in other states. Also some DuClaw, which doesn't make it to my usual stomping grounds.

The downside is the crowds, although I'm sure it would be easier to deal with on an off-hour, like a weekday afternoon. Also much fishing was required to find the stuff you want and avoid past date merchandise. On the other hand spending some time here can result in some very nice, fresh, and affordable purchases. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby.

Interestingly they had a bunch of Mikkeller and Brewdog bottles mixed in amongst the more common stuff.

Pretty non descript interior. Huge selection wine and liquor wise for sure. One of the bigger single malt selections I have seen. Beerwise they have a very good selection. I was here a year ago and it seemed somewhat disorganized and scattered about. Much better now.

Service was absent as far as I was concerned. I did see a few people being helped but as far as anyone asking to help me-NADA.

Very good selection at very good prices. The usual suspects-DFH, Victory, Troegs, Brooklyn, SAMS, Stone, etc. Other finds tucked here and there. Full line of the more notable UK beers. Could use more Belgians. Nice selection of Pike beers I have not seen in years. Clown Shoes-whome I have never heard of and a few other MA and PACNW beers that are new to me.

Well worth the stop off of 95. Nice alternative if you cant hit State Line in MD for some reason that is beyond me!

This place is massive with a huge selection of wine, but the beer section is also pretty large. Their case section is fairly small, but they make up for it with their pick your own 6 pack section. They devote a whole isle to this (which was expanded in may). They offer a great selection of all styles, countries, and have a lot of local brews. They have a larger variety of import singles then most bottle shops in the area. They also represent Dog Fish Head, Brooklyn, and the Philly area brews well. The prices are amazing compared to beer prices in Pennsylvania, and of course don't include tax. Usually the short drive down I-95 is well worth the trip and the extra cost of gas is usually negated by the savings.

I always stop here every time I take the train out of Wilmington or am driving south on I-95. Its literally just off the exit, the first exit into Delware from PA.

What more can you want, its a beer an liquor store the size of a supermarket. they have a whole aisle of individual bottles, and an aisle of six packs, with a real good selection of craft beer. Organized by country and a section for seasonal selections. They usually have some big displays of the seasonal Dogfish Head beers, helping out their local in-state brewery.

Being a PA resident, their prices are way lower than most bottle shops in PA.

Usually when I'm traveling South on 95 to visit somewhere in MD or DE, this is one of my regular stops. It gives me beers to sample which are hard to find in bottle or six pack in PA and guarantees I've a bottle or two to share with friends as a host/hostess gift.

The service here is pretty much self-service but the staff can be found pretty easily if you have questions. The folks working the register always inquire if I've found what I wanted, etc. and are more than willing to package the beer in a box or case to help ensure that it travels safely.

The selection is fairly good for some breweries (e.g, Dogfish Head, Victory, Brooklyn, etc.) and I can almost always find beers from North Coast here, not to mention one of my favorite beers of all, the Gulden Draak, from Van Steenbrege. They also stock a nice range of Hefeweizen, lots of Smuttynose, and a few things from Mikkeler.

I was also very impressed to notice that each beer shelf has been recently equpped with a 6" plastic shield that sticks out like an awning to shade the front beers on the shelf from the flourescent lights. Clearly someone has been giving some thought to protecting the beer while it is on the shelf. However, that said, you do have to make it a point to check bottle dating if you want the freshest beer possible since some things are allowed to sit quite long on the shelf.

Huge warehouse of a store, with an incredible selection of wine (easily 60% of the floorspace is dedicated to wine). Beer and craft beer take up a smaller footprint located in a smaller area adjacent to the "wine floor". Decent selection of craft beer, available by the bottle, in six packs, or by the case. They also had a seasonal selection that was highlighting fall and winter brews at the time. Absolutely worth stopping if you're in the area, and a definite must for wine enthusiasts.

Lives up to its name in that's it's mostly a wine place but it also dabbles in beer. Easily 60% of the floor space is devoted to wine, with tasting tables and knowledgeable staff. The beer section is in about 40% of the remaining 40%.

Selection is pretty good. Delaware does not get a great selection of out of state stuff but PA breweries (Victory, Weyerbacher) are nicely represented and there is always plenty of DFH. Lots of Stone too, along with a varied selection of other domestic and foreign crafts. You can buy singles and sixers, which is nice.

Nothing special but a good place to make a quick pickup if you are driving by.

Worth a quick run across to Delaware any time I'm visiting Philly--we always end up with a trunk full of beer and liquor that we have a tough time finding at home in Pennsylvania!

The main part of the store is all wine, then beer and liquor are off in a separate (huge) room off to the side. I've been very pleased with their hard alcohol--I've been able to find the Rogue whiskey & gin and Dogfish Head gin & rum that I've been wanting to try but couldn't easily get elsewhere.

Beer is availale in singles, 6-pack, 12-pack, and cases. Nice wide variety of micros and imports in the singles. Noticed that they had a whole room of cold cases, but didn't head in there.

Note that the average service just pertains to the beer section--there didn't seem to be any experts hanging out there like there were in the wine department. Everyone was very friendly and there was plenty of staff to handle a large 4th of July weekend crowd.

I'll definitely go back next time I'm in the area!

This place is pretty big and basically the only place in Delaware that you would want to buy beer. Overall the place is gigantic but is much more of a wine store than beer, and they have a humidor as well. The beer selection is in a huge space but the actual variety of beers and quality is not reflected. Lots of inbev stuff mixed in with the rest, which makes me wonder about the knowledge of the manager. Cool to make your own six pack however, and the prices are reasonable. If you can't get to State Line in MD, this is the second best option.

One of our go to stores when I was out at Swarthmore for college. About a ten minute drive across the border to this huge liquor store. Several hundred different beers to choose from in their own isle on the right-hand side of the store in both six packs or singles. Nothing terribly rare generally but a good overall selection with a strong selection of PA and NY beers in particular. Yuengling was also incredibly cheap at 13.99 a case for cans at the time. Never really received service of any kind there but if you asked up front you could usually get some help. Pretty generic overall but cheap and with solid selection.
