Pours slightly hazy, light gold in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is big pilsner malt and grass. Light bodied, medium-high carbonation, sweet and crisp. Loads of great flavor in such a low ABV. Excellent session beer. Great for the style. Could have several. Will get this again.

A remarkably flavorful beer at 2.8%. Thirst quenching with a crisp finish. This is ideal drinking on a hot and active day. A six or two on the golf cart.... perfection

Mahr's Brau Leicht has a thick, spongy, frothy, white head, and a somewhat hazy, straw-gold appearance, with some ascending bubbles and very heavy lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is of biscuit and bread dough, and the flavor is the same with a mild, rounding bitterness. Mouthfeel is almost medium, and Mahr's Brau Leicht finishes crisp and refreshing.

Pretty fresh 500ml.
A - Pale-lager-yellow with lots of carb bubbles and a few fingers of white head to start, eventually settling down to a healthy-lookin' half-finger. Some decent lace left.
S - Pretty good for a light, as in, you can actually smell things. Bread, pale malt, grains, bit o lemon. Pretty good no matter what, really.
T - Taste is a bit on the tamer side, much more pure water here but no weird corn off-flavors which is always nice. Very faint pale grainy biscuity malt and perhaps the slightest of noble hops.
M - Pretty watery flavor and feel overall but pleasant enough. Big carbonation and foam but not quite overkill.
O - Certainly pretty good for not only a light lager, but a 2.8% light lager. The scent is really surprising, and though the flavor/feel are watery, it's not unpleasant by any means. Its lacking flavor doesn't exactly make it redeeming, but certainly beats the big American macro lights.

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down, leaving some lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of apples are present in the nose along with notes of yeast.
T: The taste follows the smell and has favors of chunky yeast (like you would find at the bottom of a 750mL bottle but without the texture) and notes of apples.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and has a decent amount of flavors compared to some of the other beers in the style.

Served from a bottle into a .5L bierkrug at Mahrs Brau in Bamberg, Franconia, Germany. (They were out of the draught version). Reviewed from notes taken June 2011. It was priced very affordably.
A: Pours a one finger head of bad retention, no cream, and passable thickness. Colour is a clear yellow. Somewhat appealing.
Sm: A very light aroma of clean barley. Rather simple and underwhelming.
T: Cream over a moderately full-bodied barley foundation. Simple and uninspired. The cream is nice. Balanced but held back by its simplicity. Where are the bright crisp malts?
Mf: Smooth, wet, and and bland. Suits the flavours generally.
Dr: Affordable and easily quaffable but not at all special. Rather average indeed. The ABV is hidden but that's not impressive at 2.80%. A decent take on the style, but not uniquely enjoyable.

Bottle purchased from Beertopia in Omaha, NE.
No freshness date on bottle.
Poured into a New Belgium globe glass.
Marh's Leicht bier is a fairly quality and drinkable light lager, with an unmistakable, though weak, malt edge and hop usage that should place it near anyone's top for the style. While tasting like a fairly generic lager, one can't expect much of anything else, and despite the limitations of the style, Mahr's has pulled off a pretty solid brew. If this is available, and you want to nurse something mild during the evening, this could be your answer.
Pours a large, >2cm head, that is off-white in color, and composed of large, medium, and small bubbles. This declines within a few minutes to a thin ring around the glass and a modest central island foam capping the beer. Lacing left is a few splotches and spots, present, though nothing amazing. The body is a golden yellow color with orange tint, when held up to a light, it refines to a semi-cloudy deep golden yellow. Despite the globe glass' etching, I don't notice any carbonation going on.
Aroma is bread-like, with a bit of hop (Saaz?) bite and mild yeastiness. If everyone had my idea of what a generic light lager would smell like, this would probably be the avatar.
Taste opens with some fairly bland sweetness joined to some buttery and bread-like malt flavors. Light bitterness picks up in the mid and back-palate, from hops used. A bit flowery and grassy, again, from hops? Aftertaste is rather bland, mild sweetness and a tiny bit of residual hop flavor.
Light to medium-light bodied with a satisfying level of carbonation, making this feel rather crisp on the palate. Finish is decidedly dry.

Thanks, Chris.
A: The beer pours a clear golden straw color with a rather tall white head.
S: There is a definite skunk to the nose, unfortunately. Some yeast on the front end a nice malty sweetness all the way through. Bready malts with a light cracker character and a little bit of floral hops.
T: the flavor still has a bit of skunk to it, but not as noticeable as the aroma. Fairly sweet for a light beer with some nice malt flavor to it. A bit of floral hops and bitterness, but overall pretty light.
M: Light in body with a medium to high carbonation.
O: An okay beer, but I don't think I'd pick this one up again.

Disclaimer: a B for a light lager means the highest the style can get to me, it just looks foolish rating it any higher imo. 500ml brown bottle, bottled on date is messed up.
It pours an odd color, it is almost like a witbier in appearance, a pale whitesh gold. The head is soapy and bright white receding fast, but leaving delicate rings of lacing.
Smell is unique, but also vastly upgraded form American light beers. This one quite simply smells like if you were smearing hops on some bread with a subtle malt sweetness.
The taste is again odd, but it has a decent hop presence and bitterness actually. The flavor is a bit like just plain old malted barley with not much sugar. My guess is they took their Helles, removed half of the malt and called it a day.
Overall it is an interesting beer, it tops the light lager charts, though it itself isn't the greatest beer unless your a calorie counter.

Picked up a bottle of this to try out the best example of the "Light Lager" style. It says bottled on "5035" - not sure what that means! Served in a pilsener glass.
A - Good start here! Two fingers of eggshell white foam with plenty of lacing and solid retention. The color is less attractive - a pale semi-transparent yellow with lots of suspended solids. A few bubbles lazily rise to the top.
S - Bubblegum yeast, sharp bite-y hops (Saaz I presume), fresh bread, honey. The bouquet is pretty solid and not too different from a lot of weizens I've had.
T - Some light floral and honey sweetness, a little bit of pepper at the back of the palate. The flavor is pretty mild although there's a sharp twangy aftertaste the sneaks up after a while.
M - It's pretty watery. There's a tiny bit of carbonation tingle. Very refreshing and smooth.
D - This would score even higher if it wasn't stupidly expensive in Chicago (something like $5 for 500ml). Downright chuggable! Low ABV, carbonation, and a fairly pleasant flavor.
Life would be a lot easier if this was available instead of the typical BMC light offerings. Wish I could pound this at Cubs games.

Served in a pilsner glass.
Very pale pastel yellow, rapid carbonation, a small but fluffy head, and some suspended chunks of yeast. Lightly sweet malt aroma, faint but noble. Some broken lace at the edges.
Light malt sweetness, with the drying bitterness of an herbal hop finish. Sort of dry and crackery in the middle, it's fleeting but the wholesome flavor is there. Very easy to quaff, and pairs nicely with a variety of foods.

The drink poured with a gold appearance with some patchy lacing and healthy, robust head. The aromas were awesome: grassy, herby and thickly earthy. A citrus-like bitterness was prevalent with a slight metallic aftertaste. The beverage was pretty light but not too watery: generally enjoyable. Overall, a good light lager.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a nice pillow of foamy white head with very good retention and nice sticky lacing. Smells of yeast, grain, honey, and light floral hops. Tastes of sweet bread, sugar, pear, lemon, honey, and even a light touch of floral hop crispness in the finish. Medium light in body, smooth, sweet, crisp, and pleasant tasting with good carbonation. A real surprise for a light lager, lots of great flavors and a nice balance of sweet and bitter. Extremely sessionable and great to enjoy on a warm day.

Split a chilled bottle of this with Stopper. The brew pours a very lite gold color with fizzy yet resilient bleached white head of 1 cm. Aroma is sweet malt and caramel with a cereal graininess as well. Overall nose is mild.
First sip reveals a smooth textured brew with average to light body and fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor is sweet caramel and maybe some herbal and grassy hops that linger for a bit. Very easy to drink but very simple brew too. It is a light lager and ABV is low so that makes it even easier to drink, fits the style well.

25 oz bottle.
This "light beer" poured a clear, pale yellow color (hazy if the bottle sediment was poured), with creamy, white foam that persisted, clung, and left some lacing, and with good carbonation from the bottom of the glass. The smell was bready malt with floral hops -- quite a good aroma from a light beer. The taste was bready malt with very light hoppiness (noble hops, it seemed). A very nice flavor and especially remarkable for a light beer. The mouthfeel was smooth and lightly creamy with light body and good carbonation. The mild flavors lingered pleasantly in the aftertaste. This was a very good light beer! Perhaps the best light beer I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. This would make a excellent (long) session beer.
