This place is decent for meeting friends, easy to find, and solid for finding great happy hour deals. That said, Hennessey's is a very average Irish pub.

The food here is average to below average--primarily fried food. All the food here is reasonably priced and serves as pretty good accompaniment to a night of drinking.

The beer selection here is at best average. If you are looking for a great beer spot, I would take a 7 minute drive south to Pizza Port. If you are looking for a decent place to grab a Smithwick's and a burger, then this is the place.

I don't expect much from an Irish pub and Hennessey's fits that bill. Beer is surprisingly expensive. Beer selection is all crap on tap. Food is very average. Don't waste your money here. Go south to Pizza Port San Clemente or north to La Sirena in south Laguna Beach.

Hennessey's tries to be Irish themed, but doesn't quite make it in that respect. It feels more like a large restaurant than an Irish pub. Not much wood around, a little Irish themed fun around, though not much joy around. If there was any joy still remaining, it was killed off by the cheater pints glasses used; a $5.25 beer in a cheater pint (which is 14 ounces) comes out to a $6 pint. (Ok, to be fair, they do offer a larger size of glass too). Even food items seemed a touch more than elsewhere.

Of the 14 taps, there are none that you couldn't find at an Orange County 7-Eleven. Ditto for the single digit bottle selection. The highlights are crafts big three: Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, and Fat Tire. I don't mind either of those beers, though those shouldn't be highlights at any BeerFly in California.

If you are a BeerFly ticker like I and are dying to get the tick on Hennessey's, order a Sam Adams and then GTFO.

Great place to go in the Dana Point area. We were pointed here by a person at the Marriott Resort on top of the cliffs and she wasn't wrong. Good service, nice atmosphere and a decent selection combine to provide a decent place to visit while in the area. Of course, the always nice weather and great scenery don't hurt either. Casual relaxed atmosphere and good place for burgers and beer.
