12 oz. bottle poured into a nonic, Alaskan Stout is a super dark ruby with a medium sized tan head that settles to a thick skim, leaving moderate lace.
Smell is lots of vanilla, sweet malt and deceptively boozy for being only 4.55% ABV.
Taste has only a touch of sweet oats before a nice lingering roast and alcohol, with a clean finish. Theres also a touch of oakiness, which might explain the vanilla on the nose, which is sadly absent from the taste.
Mouthfeel is creamy and silky smooth, with a light body.
Drinkability is pretty good, this drinks like a much bigger beer then 4.55%, which I'm not really sure if that's a good or bad thing. Since it's enjoyable, I'm saying good.
