A - Purple-black like a bad bruise, this viscous brew supports a nice tan head and deposits large amounts of lace around the glass.
S - Creamy chocolate pudding, melted milk chocolate, and maraschino cherry syrup. This smells like a chocolate covered cherry taken with a sweet cup of coffee with cream. I detect some bran-meal notes along with a dark fruitiness (prunes and raisins).
T - This is much darker and more chalky/charcoal-y than the sweetish nose suggests, but as is par for the style, this is mellow and smooth... not aggressively bitter and biting like other styles of stout. The smoky and burnt rubber flavors are nice, but it's almost understated and under-assertive. There is also a red-wine like note at the finish that adds complexity and interest. Good stuff!
M - Smooth and silky, this is luscious in the mouth and mild on the finish. A little lingering chocolate flavor is left after the swallow.
D - I always find both oatmeal and milk stouts far more drinkable than the standard variety (although not as drinkable as nitro-canned Irish Dry stouts!), and this doesn't fail to live up to that standard. Probably this beers shinning characteristic, drinkability is off the charts.
