A few weeks ago my sister gave me this odd glass that was given to her by a friend who moved. It didn't match anything of their glassware so her husband didn't want it. I almost forgot I put it on the bottom shelf of the beer glass hutch until my dad brought this beer back from Alaska for me. I was reading the suggested glassware for this beer is a Stange (Slender Cylinder) and had now idea what that was; wouldnt you know the glass my sister had no use for is exactly what I wanted. It was providential that I should enjoy this beer in this glass at this time; and a pleasure indeed!
Appearance: Pours a beautiful ruby brown color with an off-white head that fades fast.
Smell: Malty! Very malty and bready too; with a nice touch of floral hop in the nose as well.
Taste: Starts off malty and sweet with hints of caramel and fruit parallel to the bready grain amber malt flavor. There is also a grassy hop presence that makes itself know but does not over dominate this brew. The finish is dry with a nice lingering aftertaste of gentle but firm hops and doughy dryness.
Mouthfeel: Oily slick through the center with a solid malt backbone and yet smooth and slight creamy around the edges with a nice dryness that prickle the palate.
Drinkability: This is a perfect anytime any occasion easy drinking beer. It is enjoyable for savoring and perfect as a session beer. The small ABV I didnt even feel after just one but the tasty flavor stayed with me after it was finished. Simply put it would always be good choice! Well done Alaskan Brewing Co.
Hope this is helpful.
