Pours a clear, deep, slightly reddish amber color, with a one-finger off-white head that recedes fairly quickly and leaves a bit of lacing.
Smell is a bit of light fruit, a bit of yeast, and a nice gentle balance between light malt and mildly floral hops. Pleasant and inviting, but nothing really special.
Taste is refreshing and clean. The malts are light and bring a bit of sweetness, the hops are kinda grassy. Finish is smooth and quick - this is not a beer that lingers in the mouth. Well-balanced and gentle.
Fairly light in body with medium carbonation. Once again, pleasant, but nothing special. The feel dissipates rather quickly.
I drank a lot of this beer before I was really into beer. Living in the Pacific Northwest, it was one of my favorite refreshing summer beers. So when Alaskan started distributing to Minnesota, I snapped it up. I still like it; it's refreshing and tastes pretty good. I'm not blown away by it, and its place as a summer staple is more due to nostalgia than taste.
