Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: zacharius on 03-26-2005

Alaskan IPA is honey gold in color with a fruity, citrus aroma. An enticing blend of hops and our dry hopping process, in which hops are added directly to tanks during fermentation, give this brew a very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing hop finish.

Appearance:
Golden-amber color, hazy. Lots of small bubbles rising up. Thick frothy head. Leaves a very nice lacing behind.

Aroma:
Grassy, piney, slight citrusy. Fruity. Sweet malts.

Taste:
Pale malt up front, bready, caramel. Hop bitterness is moderate, mainly grassy, piney, leafy, there some citrus. Tartness towards the finish, a little dry. Body is light-medium, crisp, refreshing.

Overall:
Pretty light for an American IPA, otherwise it's really good IPA, highly drinkable, very refreshing.

22oz bottle into pint glass

A two-fingered head sits atop a golden-sunset light orange brew. The head dissipates to a fine creamy foam and carbonation seeps up from the bottom of the glass. The scent is not strong as my beer is still cold, but it smells wonderfully of hops and caramel. The taste is of strong, fresh cascade hops. Citrus fruit and evergreen needles please the mouth over a background of bready biscuit malt. Medium-light body with plenty of carbonation, but not overwhelming fizz. Lacing stays strong all the way down the glass.

This is refreshment on the level of SNPA, which is a high compliment. Very hoppy and very tasty.

A thin crown of white fed by a continuous stream of carbonation sits atop this honey gold beauty. I'd like to see better clarity, a personal preference I know, but this is a review. The pleasing aroma of grapefruit meets the nose and stays dominant. Big, delightful hop bitterness accentuated by a gentle malt presence. This may be my favorite offering from this brewery, and is a solid representation of the style.

Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a pint glass.

Pours light copper, see through, with ring of white foam on the top. Light grassy pine nose. Taste is a light malt with a smooth bitter throughout. Very fizzy buzz in the mouthfeel. Actively carbonated. Good IPA, but nothing remarkable,.
