Notes/Commercial Description:
Alaskan Baltic Porter is a deep, dense beer with an intricate array of aromas and flavors derived from substantial amounts of specialty malts, dark black cherries and whole gourmet vanilla beans. Aging on toasted French oak adds further complexity.

Deepest black color with a thin caramel head.
Bold aroma of vanilla, oak, cherries and cocoa.
Flavor with notes of vanilla, cherries, roasted and smoked malts, oak, cocoa, licorice, char and lots of dark fruits.
Full body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 9.8% is superbly well hidden.
Excellent beer with good malty and fruity complexity in both nose and mouth. You can really feel the added ingredients, but they were carefully balanced not to over excel one over another. Recommendable.

22 oz Bomber. This was recommended by a beer geek that worked at Bev Mo to me.I have to say that I am going to start listening to those people a little more. This is the Best Porter I have ever tasted.Beautiful brown color in the 20 oz firestone glass.I was sitting in the house listening to The Who live at the isle of wight and I could not believe how good this was.I guess this is very hard to find the date was 2012 on the bottle. If you can still find this Please do.You will not be disappointed. This Porter Rocks. And so does The Who.Rock on with the good beers.Motley out.

A heavily oaked and vanilla, cherry-infused baltic porter, Alaskan's take on the style is unique, quite appetizing, easily drinkable, and complex, though certainly rather far from a traditional baltic porter. It is not a lager, nor particularly focused on its roasted malt components, instead letting the oak, base malt sweetness, cherry, and vanilla rise above all that might be roasted and dark. An interesting and enjoyable beer, probably the best I have had from Alaskan at this point. Would pick up again, if seen.

Pours a 2cm tall head of light tan foam, made up of small-sized bubbles that yield a frothy appearance, that quickly fades to nothing in under one minute. Lacing is modest, a few patches of small dots and lines cling to the walls of the glass. Body is a dark brown to black color, with light bringing about little change aside from a slight brown-orange hue around the perimeter of the beer. Carbonation not visible through the opaque body.

Aroma of strong oak, modest roasted malt character yielding cocoa, mild vanilla and cherries, and slight ethanol. There's quite a bit going on here, none of it unpleasant, but it's more like an oaked, fruity dark beer than a baltic porter.

Overall flavor is of base malt sweetness mixed with strong oak and moderate ethanol, prune-like esters, cherry, vanilla, and accents of roasted malts (cocoa, charred toast). Front of palate tastes oak, base malt sweetness, sweet cherries, vanilla, and mild roasted malt contributing a touch of sweetened cocoa. Mid-palate of base malt sweetness with strong oak, ethanol, sweet cherries, vanilla, and mild roasted malt character yielding charred toast and sweet cocoa. Back of palate experiences base malt sweetness, heavy oak and prune esters, slight roasted malt yielding burnt toast and cocoa, and ethanol. Aftertaste of intense prune-like flavor and sweetness, slight smokiness and char, roasted coffee beans, and fairly obvious ethanol.

Beer is medium to medium-heavy, with carbonation of medium-low intensity, resulting in a smooth (4/5) and slightly foamy (1/5) mouthfeel that is appropriate for the sipping nature of the beer and within stylistic expectations. Surprisingly minor ethanol burn or heat on the palate/throat/nostrils. Closes dry, with heavy stickiness on the palate.
