I absolutely love this beer! Everything about it is perfect, Look, Smell, Taste, Feel, all exceptional! The mild taste of orange and coriander are perfect. The beer goes down so smooth and doesn't leave you feeling full. The first time I tasted it was in Alaska. Had I known then it was not available at home I would have had a few cases shipped to my house. If it was available in Ohio, I would buy a keg and put it in my frig. Currently I have a keg of Shock Top but I would gladly replace it! * * * * *

12oz brown bottle. Pours a semi-hazi dirty blonde colored beer with a crackling head and very little lacing and retention. Definitely doesn't look like a Witbier.

Wheat, citrus, and a soft dusting of spices in the nose. Light-bodied, fizzy carbonation, round palate. Malty upfront with some fruity sweetness mixed in. Notes of orange and rind. Lemongrass. Wheaty edge. Mild powdery spices; mainly coriander. Finish is dry with some wheat husky notes, hint of breadiness, and lingering rind and spice.

Not a bad beer, but it misses the mark as a Witbier, which this was based on according to the Alaskan website. And the expect Belgian characters are not present (which makes me wonder if they used a house yeast strain vs. a Belgian one), like complex yeast flavors, and the style's trademark cloudiness and sediment that's a big part of the experience. Instead, the beer seemed too clean (partially filtered, I'm guessing) and dumbed down.

Basically I expected a Witbier, but got an American Wheat Ale w/ some spices.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass.

Appearance: The body has a heavy haze and a peach color with a light white head on top. The head is small and fades quickly making some slick lacing.

Smell: I get a nice lemony citrus along with some spicy close and orange rind over light wheat notes.

Taste/Palate: There is a big spicy clove and sweet lemony/orange presence up front with light wheat notes backing it up. I also get a slight astringent note and some pale hop bitterness on the back end. This all comes in a smooth feeling medium bodied package

12oz brown twist-off shorty, some sort of freshness code on the bottle.

Mildly hazed and bubbly golden yellow color, tiny bubbled sudsy head has a great retention. The softness of the coriander and orange peel ride well with the maltiness in the nose. Lightish body with a rounded smoothness. Subtle malt base is sturdy but lets the spicing take the lead, coriander is bittersweet and melds well with the edge of orange peel. Slight yeast and lemony hoppiness in the drying finish.

A good stab at the style, the playing field for this style has become a bit crowded these days though this one does a good job of standing out from most.

The beer pours a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the wheat with a hint of coriander thrown in. The flavor has quite a bit more orange peel in it, as well as some coriander and wheat. Overall, this is a basic Belgian White, with well balanced notes and easy drinkability. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Poured from bottle into Chalice. Best by 7/27/11.

Appearance: Hazy orange with an extremely white cap. Looks more like a Hefe than a Wit, but without the impressive head and lacing.

Smell: Orange extravaganza with light wheat and coriander.

Taste: Light wheat flavor with complex orange layers on top. Light coriander finish but remains fairly sweet throughout.

Feel: Moderately high carbonation, fairly light body with just a semi-dry finish.

Overall: Overall this has a nice orange-like flavor, but it isn't really a Wit, as it lacks Belgian yeast and the crisp dryness I expect. More like an American Wheat with loads of orange. Certainly drinkable and refreshing but I have little desire to have it again.

A-Golden, much clearer than most wits. Barely any foam, looks pretty plain.

S-Grainy, wheaty, hints of spices.

T-Only beer I've ever had that reminds me of dill weed; more so when it is fresh. Also has a bit of hot dog flavor, mace and coriander like. Wheat and barley dominate rest of flavor.

M-Nice body-seems like more barley than most wits. Very little CO2.

D-High, but so are most wit beers.

O-Nice easy drinking white. Not as sweet as most American witbiers. Nothing outstanding about this beer-just a solid drinking beer that I will be glad to have more of.

Nose: Hints of orange and coriander and light bread but the spices are muted and a good does of barley malt.
Appearance: pours more gold than white or straw and less cloudy than a Wit but does have a very creamy white 2" foam cap.
Palate: the wheat and barley malt flavors are fairly balanced - could use some more wheat and could use a little wheat tang. the spiciness is a little muted.
Body: medium to a little above medium on the body, medium high carbonation.
This is a decent, drinkable, refreshing summer ale but will disappoint if you are expecting a wit.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams pint glass.

Appearance: Murky golden orange with lots of bubbles and a little bit of particles floating around. Good two finger white head that has good retention and lacing.

Smell: Strong scent of coriander spice and oranges with wheat and a little bit of lemon. Also has hints of coconut, banana and other fruits.

Taste: A sweet and spicy mix of oranges, coriander, lemon, and wheat is followed by a strong kick of coconut with a little banana. The coconut adds a tasty and interesting balance in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Very crisp.

Overall: A very tasty and interesting take on a Witbier. I really like the coconut finish. It makes this beer stand out to me among other American versions of this style.

Good hazy bright yellow, decent amount of white head that kicks it for a little bit. Aroma was that spice herbal thing.

Taste, a little lighter with the witbier spices making it a little more drinkable sometimes than a style I'm not heavily into. Coriander, a little bit of orange, not a real defineable yeast experience to this.

A drinkable enough beer that will probably be better when you need to change up styles, hot day, girlfriend beer etc. . .
