Bottle into a tulip.
Black yet clear, with crimson highlights shining through when held to the light. One inch of cocoa-colored bubbles slowly fades to a sticky layer of foamy swiss cheese lacing.
Nice amonts of milk chocolate, toast and smoke in here, in that order. The malt is fairly sweet, almost balanced by a big hit of grassy, dank hops.
This is how it’s done. Great bitterness from the grassy hops interacts with acrid roasted malt. Cocoa and smoky pork are in the back, with a touch of tangy dark chocolate. Dry yet bitter finish.
The soft, medium light body fizzes up a bit after the light, pinching carbonation does its work. Touch of heat on the tongue from the booze.
Not bad, Alaskan, though I liked your Pilot Series version of this beer much more. Drinkable and cheap, but not too memorable.
