Murky burnt umber with a nice head that sticks.
Smells quite malty, hint of cocoa and chocolate, faint pine/dark chocolate hop note
Rich malt, dark bread, cocoa, the hops are subtle and provide more of a dark chocolate note than anything.
Smooth mouthfeel, a bit on the thin side but it works.
While most black IPAs come down on the side of light, this one comes down on the side of dark, and sort of comes off like a hoppy porter or stout. A different take on it, but a tasty one, I thought.
