Has this in a nonic pint.
The ecru-tinted foam sprints to almost four-fingers in width, some beer in the glass with the foam... The chunky and plasticy foam audibly fizzles as it dies to little more than a ring around the glass, some specks of foam holding on to the sides. The body is almost opaque black, just a sliver of cola highlights seen in the glass.
The nose is not overly spiced or astringent and gives a nice impression of pumpkin pie filling. The graham cracker malt is there, but gets caught up with some chalky milk chocolate aroma. Clove and cinnamon really stand out with an almost smokey bouquet, maybe more roasty. Lots of great stuff going on.
The palate is very meaty from the base porter, a little smokey as well. It does sweeten some as mid-palate is explored, cinnamon and clove again reign largest in pumpkin flavoring. The backside has a touch of vanilla and graham cracker with a little milk chocolate. This pumpkin porter finishes with just a kiss of roast, and more of the sweeter malt flavors. Nicely spiced porter.
Watery and crisp feel, this porter is on the lighter side of a medium body. There is good retention of flavor after the swallow, sticks to the cheeks.
Alaskan has brewed a very well spiced porter. The heavy cinnamon and clove accents work well with the meaty and smokey porter base, never overwhelming the more subtle spicing. The sweet malty flavors of vanilla, graham, and chocolate also blend well with the whole thing. Without those flavors, this porter would be much the worse for wear. I would gladly have this again.

22 oz bottle. Pours brown with a small creamy light brown head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet pumpkin pie with spice - cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and a little roast chocolate malt.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malts with a little roast and some pumpkin pie spices (ginger, allspice, nutmeg) leading to a dry floral roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a decent pumpkin porter. A bit sweet for my tastes.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.
Appearance: Reddish-black with initial thick tan head that dimishes to a thin line.
Smell: Pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger and caramel.
Taste: Tastes like a Porter with pumpkin pie spices. Pretty much as expected, with chocolate, light coffee, molasses, caramel, cinnamon and ginger. Seems really good other than the sugary aftertaste, which unfortunately became cloying about halfway through the bottle.
Feel: Lighter bodied than expected with low carbonation. Either needs to be fuller with that low of carbonation, or more effervescent with that light of a body. Finish is not dry enough. It is smooth though.
Overall: Good aroma and taste, but the sugary finish and off mouthfeel pull it down. Too bad.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Surly Darkness chalice.
Appearance: Pours a very dark blackish brown with a hint of ruby. About one finger of off white head that quickly fades away. Leaves a decent amount of lacing around the glass.
Smell: An earthy and fairly vegatal aroma with a big scent of fall spices. Upfront mix of spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and clove. Earthy hints of pumpkin. Sweet hints of brown sugar. Sweet and bready malt with hints of caramel, toffee, biscuit, grains, yeast, and some hints of smoked malt. Slight hints of roast chocolate as well. Earthy hops are pretty laid back. The spices stand out the most. A pretty nice aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, an earthy and fall spice driven pumpkin taste with some smokey and roasty malt notes. Upfront taste of fall spices with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and allspice. Taste of the pumpkins come through. Bready malts with notes of caramel, toffee, biscuit, toast, grains, and yeast along with roasty notes of chocolate and smoked malt. Sweet taste of brown sugar. Subtle presence of earthy hops in the background. A pretty solid spicy and smokey taste.
Mouthfeel: Body is on the heavier side of medium. Carbonation is moderate. Spicy and fairly drying feel. Smoke lingers.
Overall: A pretty solid pumpkin beer. The spices come through the most but there is a nice smokey malt presence.

Dark brown, nearly black. 1/2" of tan, dense head.
The aroma says autumn. Dark roast and pumpkin spice. Earthy.
The pumpkin makes itself known as pumpkin spice. Allspice, roasted malt, chocolate.
Medium body, smooth, light carbonation.
It was everything I expected being advertised as a pumpkin porter. The aromas and flavors are distinguishable.
