Finally getting around to reviewing this bottle conditioned bad boy. Dedicated to my old pal, Witt Mills, who lived in Portland for a time.
Appearance 3.75: Beautiful golden color and a hazy, opaque gold at that. There is just something about an opaque (i.e. non-translucent) beer. Smallish head, but this is probably because of the bottle conditioning.
Smell 3.50: Nice bouquet, but very subdued. This is a theme among the Bridgeport beers and is interesting to note. Usually, this subdued smell belies a big, bold taste.
Taste 4.0: The one word I can think of to describe this beer is "smooth." Front is dry, with a slight grapefruit taste. Middle is also somewhat dry, but there is a huge rush of light caramel and barley followed by very refreshing middle-palate hops that bring a delicious citrus and piney taste with them. Finish is short, dry and tasty. Lots of very subdued hop flavor palates on display. Aftertaste is medium length and, surprisingly, focuses more on the grains than the hop tastes!
Mouthfeel 4.0: Smooth, balanced and refreshing. The bottle conditioning really pushes this beer up to a different level than its peers.
Overall 4.0: Outstanding IPA. You could even call this "The IPA for people who hate IPAs." All the hop flavors are well-balanced and smooth (again!). The pervasive dryness allows this beer to hit flavor profiles which other IPAs miss. This beer is excellent with food, but one caveat: I really and honestly do not see it being sessionable. I just cannot see knocking back 4 or 5 of these expertly crafted brews in one night. You might speak with a British accent afterward if you did. If you find this beer, try it.

A classic American IPA - solid!
aroma: Big pine with orange and grapefruit
taste: pine, orange, grapefruit, pepper, spice, orange peel with slight white wine and a malt and slight honey backbone. As it opens up, becomes smooth and tastes start to soften: becomes sweeter overall.
Very nice IPA, very American and enjoyable to drink.
