Still trying to find a good sessionable IPA that's in 6 packs. I guess I could just stick with Stone or Union Jack or something...but we'll see how this one is.
A: This beer is bottle conditioned, as it states numerous times on the bottle. Pretty typical IPA look, yellowish amber with a small white head that has little retention. This one is quite hazy with yeast floties, probably due to the fact that it's bottle conditioned.
S: Smell is mild, but predominantly citrus hops, with a bit of floral and piney hops mixed in there. I sense a bit of malty crispness, but not prominant.
T: Flavor is a bit of sweet malt, quickly covered up by bitter resiny hops. A bit of citrus and pine in the flavor as well. Hop character is pretty good, though I could do with a bit more flavor.
MF: Thin and fizzy, as you would expect. Finish is a tiny bit dry, but more due to carbonation than hops. Not much warming and the alcohol content is really not noticable.
D: A nice solid IPA. I would rate this higher than a lot of IPA's out there, but it doesn't touch any of the top beers in the category. Almost more of a super hopped pale ale. The 5.5% ABV makes this a very sessionable beer, which may make for better drinking in certain situations than other IPA's...but that's really the only reason I would drink it over those beers.

A classic American IPA - solid!
aroma: Big pine with orange and grapefruit
taste: pine, orange, grapefruit, pepper, spice, orange peel with slight white wine and a malt and slight honey backbone. As it opens up, becomes smooth and tastes start to soften: becomes sweeter overall.
Very nice IPA, very American and enjoyable to drink.
