Very dark brown—near black in color with a tan head. Big coffee aroma along with roasted malts. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee (though not as big as aroma), and chocolate. As it warmed up, I tasted a subtle smokey flavor Not a lot of hops in aroma or flavor. Light to medium bodied with light carbonation. I was expecting it to be a bit thicker. In the finish, I tasted coffee along with a touch of something sour.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #49 (Feb 2011):

Coffee beer spared by the FDA, thankfully. This Porter throws down an opaque darkness, and a two-finger head rises above. Hints of dark roasted coffee, burnt sugar and faint burnt raisins entice the senses. Wet roasted palate, it's light on the roasted coffee flavor, though it does have a faint burnt side to it. Hops are modest, with a kiss of bitterness and herbal flavor. Suggestions of faint blackstrap molasses and figs in the mostly dry finish. While this one did not shake the ground beneath our feet, it did gain extra points for being very drinkable.

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a smallish light tan head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is roasted dark chocolate malts and lots of coffee with a little vanilla.

The flavor is bitter roasted malts with a little chocolate and some coffee. The finish is a bit tarry and medicinal. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth, slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, so close to a great coffee beer. If it tasted like it smelled, it would be fantastic. As it is, it's a bit to roasted and charred for me with some off-notes in the finish. I would have liked to see more chocolate and coffee.

I love coffee beers so I am looking forward to this one.

The beer pours a very dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma is heavy on the coffee with some roasted malt. One of the heavier coffee smelling beers that I have tried. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of coffee, but I also get some bitter, roasted malt and a little bit of chocolate mixed in. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A very nice coffee beer but not one of the better ones I have tried.

Dark brown pour, minimal head to the thing. Mild coffee notes. Not the most 'coffee infused' beer out there, but a mild enjoyable amount nonetheless.

Taste, smooth, mild coffee still there, not really much else to speak of, a dallop of chocolate. Roasty chocolate malt. Easy enough to drink unless you're intimidated by the color.

Pretty solid stuff, nothing going to blow you away, but you know, worth it at 8$ a 6pack.

(Served in a tulip glass)

A- This beer pours a jet black body with a creamy tan head that sticks to the glass in sheets.

S- The roasted coffee aroma is rich and starts to take on a fresh coffee grounds aroma in the finish. It turns a bit watery as it warms up.

T- The rich roasted dark coffee bean leads to a very soft tartness with some chocolate malt notes and a finish of coffee grounds. The finish has a nice green woody hop hint that lingers with the coffee for a moment. As the beer opens up the finish takes on an oxidized coffee quality.

M- The medium-full mouthfeel has a creamy texture in the finish.

O- The coffee flavor is full and rich, and although it is not really like stale coffee it does have some coffee grounds flavor that is a bit off and that mixed with the green woody hops clash a bit as the beer warms.

A: Dark brown with a hint of red; great sudsy head and lacing is okay

S: Some coffee but also lots of sweet chocolate--like chocolate syrup; a bit of a sour weirdness but mostly coffee and chocolate

T: Some coffee and coffee bitterness followed by sweet chocolate and then finally the coffee comes; I wish it was balanced better with other elements but since the beer is a bit thin it doesn't quite finish like you would like; something a bit sour and weird and metallic in the finish

F: A bit thin--though decent feel in the finish

O: An okay coffee porter but not quite as balanced and full bodied as I would like

A - Poured into a pint glass. Black, black and blacker. A nice inch of tan head that is still holding minutes after the pour.

S - Ummm, roasted coffee and more coffee. Smells like my breakfast drink. There is some underlying burnt and roasted malt too.

T - Tastes like coffee. Bitter comes in halfway through and then a slight watered down taste. The hops do not balance with the coffee and malt very well. It results in a bit of a battle that ends with an off bitter taste towards the end.

M - Soft body at first, most crisp towards the end. Moderate carbonation.

O - Not the best "coffee" beer, but not horrible. The taste was the only let down.

A: Pours black with a think bubbly tan head. Very pretty beer. Head dissipates rather quickly. Lacing is really good!

S: Roasted and coffee as soon as the cap is popped. Very strong aroma. Maybe some sweetness to the coffee like chocolate but coffee is dominate.

T: Straight coffee. All the way through the taste and it's excellent. Very malty and balanced as well. Not really sweet, as the smell somewhat eluded to. Smooth and crisp with a really fair amount of body for a porter.

COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE!!! AMAZING!! I'm not sure if I'd want to drink this beer everyday though. I would definitely buy it again but it falls into a category of beers that I don't buy constantly. I have my go-to brews that stock my fridge daily, while this one is in the realm of buying a 6-pack to have a beer session with one of my fellow craft drinkers. Great Beer BridgePort Brewing Co!!!!

Got a bottle of this at the Market of Choice in Eugene, OR

A: A very dark brown color, almost as dark as a cup of coffee. Minimal to no head. Very good lacing around the glass.

S: Deep coffee aroma with some roastiness to it. Could also pick up some chocolate notes, and a smoky flavor as well. A very nice smell to this beer.

T: It's like drinking a cup of coffee. Very nice and malty backbone. I can hardly taste any of the hops at all. Has a somewhat sweet aftertaste.

M: Medium body, not too thick. Nice and creamy, and goes down very easy.

D: I really enjoyed this beer. It had everything I was looking for in a coffee porter. I would love to try this one again if given the opportunity.

Pours a chestnut-tinged mahogany with 2+ fingers of tan head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Lots of coffee, some dark chocolate

Follows the nose, some charred grain & iron as well up front. Charred grain & coffee dominate as this warms, some herbal hops lingering in the background, along with some Baker's chocolate. Finishes dry with some dark chocolate, a touch chicory & woody hops

MF: Medium bodied, fairly firm to prickly carbonation. Body thins out as this warms

Drinks easy, but sort of loses steam in the finish

This is a nice coffee porter.

Pours black with tan edges.

Aroma is coffee with some dark chocolate notes.

Taste is very coffee forward. The dark chocolate is subtle, but present. Mild hoppy undertones. Dry finish.

This is a good coffee porter. Not as heavy as some of the coffee stouts out there, so it is a nice change of pace. I think this is my favorite Bridgeport beer.

12 oz. Standard blackish pour, a light tan head. Diminishes to a thin layer fairly quickly.

Aroma has the coffee, cocoa, peat, toasted malt. Not bad at all.

Taste is a bit dry. Some earthy roast and chocolates, then more coffee. The coffee takes over and dries it out quite a bit. Not an unpleasant coffee finish, but not outstanding either.

Lighter mid bodied, good for a session porter. Mouthfeel has maybe a tad much carbonation, combined with the slightly acrid coffee hold it back a bit. Still a fine session type porter, if you like a cheaper coffee.

Billowing souffle cap of tan foam, sticky and frothy. Black body with woody brown edges. The foam maintains a thin unbroken skim across the surface. A crown of lacing sticks to the edges of the glass.

Aroma of mellow roast coffee with cream, dry with a rounded mellow toasted malt presence too.

Soft coffee flavors, mellow and not acrid or harsh at all. Mild tobacco and woody roast. Dry with little to no sweetness, hints of coffee bitterness in the aftertaste. Thin bodied, slightly watery, but it carries the flavors well. Easy drinking, could have a couple at a time, no problem. A lighter coffee porter worth trying.

Just got a 6-pack of this to try..

- Pours a nice super dark ruby black and brown.. about a finger of light mocha head quickly down to a thin creamy dusting on top and a medium ring...

- Zesty and spicy porter.. chocolate and bitter coffees.. grassy and citrus hop character.. grainy and bright.

- Smooth and light porter.. grassy notes, some light coffee which is even bigger than the malt profile which seems to lack a little... not very robust. Zesty and spicy hop, bitterness.. overall some bandaid flavors.. phenols..

- Light bodied.. more thin than I expected.. but not too bad.. lightly drying..

- Overall kind of a let down.. some off phenol flavors, bandaid.. and kind of thin. Perhaps things will get more consistent and better over time with this brand new release.

** Edit - I don't get it, but letting these bottles sit just for a minute in the fridge seems to make all the difference... this is a great breakfast brew... something I think all can enjoy... especially those that don't partake in craftbeer. Heavy pour this time... huge lace and better turn out.

- Cask or Nitro I bet would be killer... would much rather see it on Cask...

Pours a deep brown color with a tight. off-white head that leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smells of light coffee notes.

Tastes of mostly coffee notes. Some cocoa and brown sugar as well. Has a lightly sweetened iced coffee character. Not much else going on, but the coffee is nicely done.

Mouthfeel is medium-light with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Yep a large cup of coffee. This is something else.

Poured out of a dark bottle into a chilled mug. Poured black into a mug with a tan head floating on top.

The smell was malt with the smell of a dark fresh ground coffee bean. I really enjoyed the smell.

Taste- At first I was taken back but by drink number 2 I was in really enjoying this beer. Coffee is the number one thing you will think of as you have a drink.

Overall I really enjoyed this beer. It took a couple drinks but I enjoyed it to the end.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. No dating info that I could find. Was black in color with mahogany edges if right against the light. Good sized head that dissipated into a thin collar. Slight lacing but none sticking.

The aroma was heavy on dark roasted coffee and some chocolate malt with not much else getting though. No discernible hop aroma. The taste was bitter and slightly burnt coffee. I like coffee beers but this one was too far into the coffee with not enough of the base porter still around for my taste. More coffee than beer. Mouthfeel was medium with good carb levels and very coffee bitter aftertaste.

Overall, it was too unbalanced for my tastes to really enjoy. Not a drain pour by any stretch but didn't get any beer enjoyment out of it. Avail here in TX. Rotation - one was enough for me [N;N]
