Smooth, Light, Refreshing! I love the citrus hints in this beer. Like the other reviews I suppose that is the flavor of Yuzu an Asian fruit. Its similar to lemon only more like a lemon zest than an actual lemon. I hate lemons in beer now that my my palate is starting to develop, I'll leave that for the big brew companies like Budlight and Corona. I had this over Memorial Day weekend at my in-laws cookout. It finished well with the wonderful smoked BBQ. This beer is a beer that compliments and does not overpower. It goes down smooth and is a thirst quincher on a hot day. It just surpassed my old favorite summer beer, Boulevard Wheat. (640 characters)

An actually new twist on the light fruity beers. That Japanese yuzu taste is really aromatic and gives just the right tart edge. I've only had it in yuzu seasoning sauce but it's not a strong flavor, and seems well suited to beer. Closer to tangerine than other citrus fruits.

Nice bright golden color in the chalice. Watery in a refreshing way, light and crisp. Plenty sudsy and a great champagne mouthfeel. Great quaff and I would like to find this on tap. Bridgeport surprises me sometimes, but it's another big brewery that puts out well-made beers.

From the 12 oz bottle bought at my favorite Denver store, Grapevine Liquors on Monaco. (642 characters)

12 oz bottle pours a mostly clear, light gold color with a creamy white head. Pretty good retention and lacing.

Nose is tropical fruit with a strong lemongrass presence. Lemongrass seems to have more of a softer and spice-oriented aroma than lemon peels to me and this brew showcases that well. I have no idea what a Yuzu fruit is, but this beer smells a little like a starfruit dusted with nutmeg or something. Grains are light and hops are non-detectable.

Pretty refreshing brew here, the ingredients seem to work well together. Lemony aspect comes through strong and the citrus component is somewhere between fruit and a Citra-esque hoppiness. Not too sweet, just about right with a fairly dry finish. I like this one actually, I bought a single, but would seriously contemplate a six-pack purchase at some point this summer. This would go down ridiculously easy after spending some time in the hot sun. (908 characters)

Appearance is gold with a white head leaving scattered, foamy lace.

Smell is mild citrus from the fruit and lemon grass, but pleasantly restrained. A little bubble gum too.

Taste is similar, this is a clean, basic blonde ale with just a kiss of lemon. Good summer ale.

Mouthfeel is pretty crisp, dry, light bodied.

Drinkability is high, this one is a guzzler, but it's got that little something extra from the exotic ingredients. (437 characters)

I had this in a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy golden yellow color with a decent transparency about it allowing some light carbonation to be seen rising.
The smell had a dry citrus cleaning grassiness about it. I guess that's the You juice but I've never had You juice, I'm only going with what I read on the beer.
The taste was the same with a nice spice added in.
The mouthfeel was light, somewhat drying but not too much. Semi - crisp and forgiving on my tongue.
Overall, other than Deschutes Summer Ale, this is one of my favorite Summer brews and is quite possibly BridgePort's best. (602 characters)

Summer Squeeze

A: transparent faintly cloudy dirty blonde color with average carbonation and a 1-finger white foamy head (like frogs eggs drifting together) that quickly dissipates into just about nothing.

S: scent is like POW!!! in your face citrus full of lemons, a little lime, a touch of green grass, very very bright, with a sprinkling of caramel.

T: Complex. Immediately I am hit by a sort of biscuit flavor which drags behind it the tang of lemons, then lemon rind, then lemon-lime, and following that a faint herbal styling that reminds me so much of gin.

M: Light and frothy. Balanced just so.

O: Wow! And I mean it. This ale is no joke. No subtleties here, we are talking full on 1000-watt summer time ale. It is something like a complicated lemonade for big kids. Yummy. (although it should be noted that drinkability on this beer may be a bit low due to the overwhelming nature of its flavor-- 1-2 bottles is generally enough for a single sitting) (964 characters)

Very pale gold pour. 1/2 finger head and, surprise, no retention. Not much lace.

Strong herbal, lemongrass nose. Very strong.

Very smooth start with a light creamy feel. Gets a bit of zest in the finish with a light sour flavor and nice biscuit malt. Lots of lemon zest coming in late.

Feel is just right for the style.

This hits the spot on a hot night in NC. (367 characters)

I bought a six-pack of Summer Squeeze in a grocery store. $7.49. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a pale gold color and is crystal clear. There is a small fizzy white head, and few bubbles rising in the glass.

Smell is herbal. You definitely get the lemon grass scent and some fruit aromas.

Taste is a lot like the smell. A dry herbal grass flavor upfront, with some sweet citrus on the finish. Very mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel is exceptionally light crisp and clean.

Overall a drinkable light refreshing beer. It;s great on a hot day. Good thirst quencher, but not filling. Good lawnmower beer. (600 characters)

12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours out a yellow body with uncompromising clarity and an inch-high, white head.

Smell: Lightly malty, lightly citrusy, and rounded out by the typical Bridgeport house yeast.

Taste: Malted barley with a low graininess, gentle sweetness, and an unassuming hint of biscuit. Lemony herbal qualities (as well as a bit of nectarine), helped along by the lemongrass and yuzu but also the hops. Faint bitterness. Touch of Bridgeport yeast. Crisp, drying, lightly citrusy finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: SSBA hits the spot as a fine, thirst-quenching blonde ale. (674 characters)

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

The body is a semi-clear golden color. A foamy white head leaves a decent film, with good foamy lacing. The aroma is faintly grassy, light, and sweet. Clean lemon notes abound. Tastes refreshing, lightly grassy, with a good malt backing. Finish had a citrus touch. Mouthfeel is clean and light-medium.

Overall, an excellent summer brew, easily can down a sixer on the deck. (408 characters)

Appearance - Slightly foggy yellow body. White one finger bubbly head with good retention.

Smell - Citrusy. Grassy. Light and refreshing.

Taste - Lemon peel. Very smooth, very mild hop. No off flavors. Slightly hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Smooth. Light-medium body and somewhat frothy.

Overall Drinkability - Refreshing. Flavorful if light. (414 characters)

Picked up a bottle of this one in Boulder yesterday, and am really enjoying it. Poured a light golden color with a significant white head. Nice aromas of citrus and lemongrass. On the palate, this one is light and refreshing, with light biscuit and a big lemony finish. (269 characters)

Split bottle, had 4-5oz pour into a bevel top taster glass

A - Super clear straw, white head, decent lacing

S - Fruity Pebbles! and lots of them. Salt, fresh grains, some grass

T - Grainy, citrus, lemon wedge, more Fruity Pebbles, flowers, light rye bread (not the dark rye or marble variety)

M - Dry finish, but not too dry, grainy, light, crisp, smooth

O - Decent beer, great Fruity Pebbles aroma & taste. Refreshing for a hot day, but not something I am going to seek out or be upset if they don't make this again next year. (532 characters)

Pours a clear yellow, with a thin white head, kind of light lager looking. Smells a bit of lemonade, and a hint of grain. Taste is begins with a bright lemony citrus flavor, followed by some crackery malt middle, finishing with a hint of raspberries, and grass. Mouthfeel is a little bit thin, nice even carbonation levels. Overall a quite good blonde ale, the citrus flavors work well here and certainly make this a good summer beer. (434 characters)

A: Bright, clear gold color. Poured a 2 finger stark white head that dissipated to an even skim. Laced the glass in medium rings with occasional legs down the glass.

S: Lemongrass and citrus zest hit the nose up front. Sweet with some bread notes as the beer warmed a little.

T: Just like the nose with big lemongrass and citrus throughout. Crisp, refreshing and fairly balanced as there is a lemony sweetness that lingers through a very light bitter.

M: Light body. Ample carbonation. Crisp, clean and refreshing.

O: Very drinkable and refreshing. More than a couple, the lemon may wear me out. Very manageable ABV. (620 characters)

12 oz. bottle poured in a straight-side pilsner glass.

A - Poured clear golden orange, with a stream or two of bubbles steadily rising. Head was one to two fingers of nearly foamy off-white head. Left medium thick lacing on the glass.

S - Strong citrusy nose, lemon and grapefruit, with something tropical I can't put a name to. A hint of straw as well.

T - Dominant grapefruit/orange flavor with an accent of lemon. Light grassy/wheaty flavor picks up at the finish. Overall it’s tart, moderately fruity, with a very mild wheat flavor.

M - Effervescent, almost sharp carbonation. Tends to hide the flavors a bit, but its got zip. Crisp, light body, though not thin. Finishes dry.

D - A very crisp, hot summer afternoon beer. You could drink multiple rounds and not get filled up, but you might still be thirsty.

Admittedly, this is outside my preferred style, but it is interesting nonetheless. I have a hard time giving a low rating to a decent, interesting beer that I can imagine someone really liking. So of course, my rating is going to skew high. Ultimately, though I think a little less carbonation and tart, and a little more sweetness and wheat would round this beer out and make me like it more. (1,215 characters)

The aroma is, not surprisingly, pretty full of citrus although I also get some wheat on the nose...even though I am not sure if this is a wheat beer. We shall see!!

Upon drinking, it certainly has a vibrant citrus quality, predominantly lemon although there is another, somewhat orange, taste as well. Maybe that's the yuzu?? I'm really not familiar with what that fruit is. Overall, the citrus is predominately lemony but with a nice sweetness to it as well. Hops are pretty much non-existent....they're just not here. However, the wheat that I found on the nose certainly does follow through with a healthy dose of cracker on the finish.

Overall, it's a pretty nice summer beer....if I knew what yuzu even was, perhaps I'd be more adept at picking out what those notes are, but what I can see here is an easy drinking, light, citrusy summer wheat beer. (856 characters)

6 pack from Roths Sunnyside Market in S.Salem. $7.99 Bright yellow beer with a largish frothy white head. Nice lemon grass and peach like aromas..very refreshing. Taste is very lemony..tart not sweet and also get nectarine like flavours ( yuzu ?)..light malts and no discernable hopping. Low carbonation actually works with the sweetness. Overall a very simplistic summer drinker. I did like it though..first 70 + degree day here. (430 characters)

Served chilled into an imperial pint glass.

Slightly hazy golden yellow-orange color. Head is thick at first but settles quickly and leaves little lace behind.

Aroma is mildly citrusy but not in a hoppy way. It's more of a lemon candy than a real lemon zest.

Flavor is mild, crisp, and refreshing. Easy drinking and enjoyable on a warm summer night. Sweet, lemony, and clean.

Light in body and flavor but not bland. It has good balance and is definitely more of a crowd pleaser than I'm used to drinking but not a bad beer by any means. (540 characters)

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date, but I'm guessing it is probably a 2012 summer beer.

A - pours a very light orange color with a nice head that disappears quickly.

S - Lemongrass and citrus peel are dominant in the nose, with maybe some malts that I smell there.

T - A lot of citrus and lemon flavors going on here. Extremely tangy, and moderately carbonated, but it goes over well with the feel of this beer. This probably would be great for a nice hot summer day, but sadly this beer has probably been chilling in the bottle for a good 6 months. The exotic Yuzu fruit juice is a pleasant little novelty that this beer holds, so that only adds to the fun of it all.

M - The mouth is crisp, like an alcoholic lemon lime soda. Or something. It leaves a little bit of a sticky feel in your mouth, but none of the flavors are ridiculously overwhelming.

Overall, a nice beer. I like the citrus characteristics, and I like the exotic addition of the Yuzu fruit even better. The beer is only 4.5% so it is easy sippin for those hot days. I'll definitely have this again.

I thought this one would be close to Lienenkugel's Summer Shandy--or whatever it's called. I'm glad it is not.

Pours bright. Light golden, some haze. Good white, foamy, semi-dense head. Retention is good. Little lacing.

Aroma is mostly lemon with an odd muskiness to it. Malt is sweet, husky a bit. Some spices and hops, not overly strong

Taste is a bit odd with the muskiness. Although I think that calms down the lemon and citrus a bit, otherwise it would be like lemonade...as the carbonation can use a pinch more bubbles. Kind of creamy on the end, but the hops do a subtle job of providing crispness.

Nice summer beer (628 characters)

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Look - clear golden color with good carbonation and about 1/4 of a finger of off-white colored foam that dissipates slowly.

Smell - very zesty/citrusy and herbal.

Taste and Mouthfeel - bitter and citrusy from the start, with a bit of an odd edge to it, possibly the yuzu juice. It would probably be sweeter if it weren't for the added lemongrass. Texture is a little more on the watery side, mouthfeel is somewhat warming.

Overall - not a bad brew. Great on a hot summer day, and fairly interesting to taste. (553 characters)

What a pleasant surprise. I first sipped a bottle while golfing and figured I should try one later at home so I could properly evaluate.

Not a super serious beer, this is fun summer refreshment. The beer pours a good straw hue with a very good amount of head, nice retention, and good lace.

Aromas of fruit and citrus waft out. I noted lemon, herb, orange, spice, and a touch of tree fruit (maybe papaya or mango?). The palate is above average but is disappointing compared to the complex nose. Body is light, very little texture, but that's in keeping with the summer blonde (fruit infused) beer.

I never really got a true sense of the yuzu fruit (being more used to cooking with yuzu starch), but maybe that was what I was confusing with tree fruit.

Overall an imminently drinkable concoction at home on a patio on sunny days (all three of them here in Portland! j/k!).

Worthy! (884 characters)

12-oz bottle into Samuel Smith "Tulip" pint glass

A - slightly cloudy golden body under a finger and a half of white foam; moderate carbonation bubbles

S - sour lemon, sweet citrus, grass

T - sweet citrus (presumably from the yuzu), lemony bitterness, hints of grass and peppery spice, bitter citrus finish

M - medium body, high carbonation

poured into a diconic....

the finely bubbled head gives this light colored ale a great overall look. The lacing is generous and persistent.

Smell is heavily citrus as you might expect since the label says it is brewed with lemongrass and yuzu fruit juice added.

It comes across as a lager to me with much more ABV than the 4.5% quoted. But, of course, no trace of malt.

Mouthfeel is excellent; not overly carbonated and full bodied.

Overall, very sessionable summer ale. Being a hophead, it's not something I would seek out often but on a hot summer day, it may be just the ticket. (586 characters)
