22oz red wax capped bottle, painted label with elegant script work.

Pours a bright red, looks like a juicy Pinot, a quick lived and crackling white head makes itself known and then dies almost as soon as it appeared. Smells of raspberry jam and toast, Pinot wine notes, slight oaky vanilla. Taste is dry raspberry jam on toast, and the nutty flavor that accompanies the crunch of raspberry seeds on said toast, mellow and grainy earthy funk, slight cheese, and a vinous quality on the back end. Mouthfeel is off dry with high carbonation, balances well with the flavors. Overall not bad- no real sour to this, more lightly tart and funky, very interesting but well balanced. I think sour wouldn't hurt, but this beer is good just the way it is.

Bottle number 1766 of 2400 produced.

Appearance- Pours a raspberry red with a finger of slightly pinkish head.

Smell- Raspberries, strawberries, vinous aromas,

Taste- Tart raspberries with a pinot noir twist. Sweet, but not cloying.

Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium bodied with high carbonation.

Overall - Refreshing and flavourful American wild ale. Nice vinous characteristics from being aged in pinot noir casks. Raspberry flavour stays true to the fruit (not artificial tasting by any means).

Poured into a Unibroue tulip glass. Pours a reddish brown amber with a finger of fine off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma is dominated by raspberries with just a hint of grape and cherry. Flavor is tart raspberry juice, moderately vinous. Finishes dry and tart with raspberry and cranberry juice and light flavors of wild yeast and tannic wood. Medium bodied with pleasant active carbonation. Not my favorite style, but I enjoyed the fresh raspberry flavor and reserved vinous woodiness. Well made and refreshing.

Appearance is ruddy brown with a small tan head / skim. Some nice crackle on the initial pour. Very light foamy lace.

Smell is pure raspberry. Impressive due to the barrel aging, maybe that was on fruit as well, or it's accentuated by the pinot. Either way, nice purity, with just a light touch of phenols.

Taste is tart and light, the mineral and fruit notes give it a very naturally flavored seltzer taste, reminiscent of Clearly Canadian. I'm getting some cranberry notes as well before it basically disappears to a dry, lightly acidic aftertaste that hints of berry.

Mouthfeel is bone dry, light and slippery.

Drinkability is high. The nose is great if you like raspberries, while the taste brings a restrained nuance that allows for high degree of quaffability while easily masking the ABV. This beer has a fairly impressive depth, but it is about as delicate as it gets, akin to a very ephemeral, feminine burgundy. The biggest knock is the abruptness of finish. All and all though well done, too bad I just grabbed the one (on release and cellared until now).

22oz bottle from Belmont Station. Tulip.

A: Brackish red with a ring of lazy white bubbles. Pour yields aggressive, attacking carbonation.

N: Raspberry, raspberry, and more raspberry. The woodiness is slightly present in the back with some cherry. A slight pepper. Not overly complex but it is as advertised.

T: Tart raspberry flushed with water. Lemon. Really fails the nose, here. Marionberry and cherry. Pretty lackadaisical.

N: Light and watery. Refreshing, if you’re using the word like ’interesting’.

O: Had a chance to be an under the radar work of brilliance. Rather, the flavor fails the wonderful raspberry nose. Sad.
