This has one of the strangest scents I've ever encountered in a beer. Some kind of candy with plastic notes and Band-Aids, perfume and sewing machine oil. I'd call it engine room meets the lady's boudoir.

Taste is rather sweet with a woody, bitter tang. I admit there is some fruity flavor, though it seems scorched. Some herbal and dank notes, like a leaf mold cola. Plenty of roasted malt flavors, but they are overwhelmed by the charred bark taste. The woodiness sets the teeth on edge a little, and dries this out some toward the finish. Aftertaste is charcoal and really bitter chocolate.

Color is an attractive dark brown with a dark beige head that doesn't last long. While there is some spritz on the tongue the whole flavor and mouthfeel seems to flatten out.

Poured into a tulip.

Very little head, very thin lacing. Smells of chocolate, cherries, cola, maybe a little vanilla. Just a tad. Taste is... pretty thin, quite light. Not a lot of backbone to this bear. There's the bitterness of the chocolate at the end, but otherwise it's rather faint. Imagine drinking a cherry coke with a boozy, bitter finish, but with less cherry and you're there. Good carbonation, but the body is just too thin. I want to like Bridgeport, I really do, but their new releases lately have really fallen flat for me. Keep trying guys.

App. 3.25-pours very little head, about one finger that disappears quickly. Dark as night, some light shines through the edges
Smell-2.75. Cherry cola with some chocolate, skunky lager smell overwhelms.
Taste- 3. A very big disappointment being I'm a huge fan of stouts and especially chocolate stouts. Carbonation hits the front of the tongue, cherry cola and espresso flavor in the middle with an overwhelming amount of carbonation in the back of the throat.
Mouthfeel-2 the amount of carbonation is what really kills this one for me. Most chocolate stouts I've had have a fairly smooth mouthfeel and feel like silk going down. The amount of carbonation ruins any of the good stout flavors this beer should have.
Overall- this brewery has really yet to impress me. It lacks flavor and taste way too much like cherry coke. This tasted like a lager with some cherry notes.

Appearance - Pours near black with cola brown edging with a tan finger width head that fizzes away like soda. Leaves little evidence of there ever being a head.

Smell - Cocoa notes and faint cherry sweetness. Scant trace of coffee.

Taste - Cocoa and milk chocolate notes hit first, then a light cherry undertone kicks in. Faint coffee bitterness starts to emerge as the beer warms, but does little to balance the overwhelming sweetness.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with light, fizzy carbonation. Not very suited for the style.

Overall - Looks and tastes like what a chocolate cherry soda might be like. Needs a deeper coffee or baker's chocolate bitterness to add balance to the brew, and a thicker, silkier body. Even as a dessert beer it seems to lack any redeeming quality. Needless to say, will not seek this out again.

Picked this up at the COOP tonight for about $6... poured into my HotD goblet... the brew is surprisingly black... fleeting dark tan head leaves few splotches of lacing and no cap.

Nose is dry dark malts and a fudgy essence... cherry shows but seems a bit artificial. Smells more like fermented out candy than I appreciate.

Dry stout qualities are there, but chocolate comes off as chocolate extract and the cherries mirror the nose. Odd.. Not sure if more malty sweetness would improve things, but I suspect more sweetness would have helped carry the cocoa and fruit much more.. Right now, this is a letdown.

Body is light/medium punctuated by a bigger burpy carbonation... I won't buy it again.

Bought at Safeway. Had never heard of this before. Poured a slightly red but very dark brown color. Head is tan but very minimal and goes away almost instantly. May have been a little too cold still when I poured it. Aromas are faint chocolate and booze. Flavor is an odd combo of tartness and an almost cola like feeling. A bitter aftertaste. Chocolate is not very pronounced. The body is a bit too thin. Not undrinkable but just doesn't quite match the bottle description. I've had amazing cherry stouts before but this isn't it. Should be a hardy heavy bodied brew in my opinion, with the flavors really popping. This has more of a basic stout with a few dashes of old cherry coke thrown in.
