This one was already behind the eight ball, as a style I don't like, but this was bad even for a session IPA. Watery, bitter and dank this didn't seem to conjure up any malt at all. The hops had no fruit or sweetness and delivered onion, chive and pine.

Nothing special.....kind of bland. There are better choices out there.

Look- Golden with a small head.
Smell- Hops, little citrus and floral. Hint of wheat
Taste- Very bland. Hard to place the flavor of the taste. In between a wheat and a pale ale. Not a traditional IPA
Feel- medium bodied traditional of an IPA. A little heavy considering ABV
Overall- Not good. The ABV is low, difficult to disguish the ingredients and flavors. Definitely go for another brew.

I have to give credit where credit is due. I am winnowing down & through the insidious Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody when this one appeared in the rotation. I was surprised that I could not find it since it was a fairly recent acquisition & even more surprised that it was "retired". sammythegoose to the rescue with a link to a newspaper article showing that it was still in production! Kudos, also, to the staff member who quickly resolved it through an Update!
From the bottle: "The original craft brew of the Bluegrass".
Correct name, correct status, approved pic on file! Man, this is perfectly aligned for me to Pop! the cap and get started. An in-glass swirl raised two fingers of foamy, fizzy, rocky, eggshell-white head with modest retention before falling away. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity & while this would have normally precipitated a visit from the Gelt Gang of Mammon, Croesus & Midas, they called earlier to say that they were poll-watchers today and would be unable to stop over. Nose had an odd grapefruit/pine/grassy smell that seemed like so many other Session IPAs. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was slightly bitter, more towards lemon & grapefruit, but in an awfully muted state. It was indicative of my problem with this offshoot of the AIPA style - aroma hops that do not translate onto the taste. Finish was semi-dry, but I did not really care since this was boring me to death! Boring!

This beer has been brought back as of Spring 2016, so the "retired" note here should be removed.

Had from a 12oz bottle with 053116 printed on the glass.
I love IPA's but their mix of Cascade, Calypso and Hallertau hops simply does not taste good. You would think a session IPA with a light hop taste would be tough to not be decent. What piney hop taste is there makes you wish there was less of it. No malt balance at all. I would not buy this again.

Poured from an undated bottle. Scares me a little as I see this beer is retired and no longer brewed. It was on the shelf so here goes>>>Gold in color with white fluffy head. Aroma is almost non-existent with a touch of AAL smell like Bud Lite. Taste is very watery, hardly any hops or malt. What a mess !
