Got this local NorCal brew while roaming around Arcata, CA. Poured into a flute glass out of a bomber.
Appearance: Pours a strongly carbonated appearance with a huge head and a reddish-amber color reminiscing a pale ale.
Smell: The strawberries are definitely present, although there are tinges of cane sugar and spices there. Smells a bit like medicine. It's a very sweet aroma overall.
Taste: Very surprised with this one, actually. While it initially appears to be too carbonated and watery, the wheat, yeasty flavor and strong malts kick in - but only too much. There is a slight sourness to the beer, as well as honey and tiny toffee notes. It's not insanely complex but holds itself to be enjoyable.
Mouthfeel: Not bad - has substantial malty creaminess and yeasty thickness to keep it interesting to drink. There's hardly any bitterness on the tongue, but a sweetness and slightly higher ABV than fruit beers usually that warms up the face.
Overall: A tasty and refreshing beer that is decent to an extent. As of this writing, I'm getting slight headaches due to its slightly high sweetness, which definitely lowers the drinking experience for me. It's definitely something decent to be used as an aperitif to split in between lots of people, but definitely not by myself. It's not bad by any means, but I suppose I'm slightly spoiled with lambics at this rate...
