Same great Molson Canadian taste, but with 6% alcohol in a 250ml slim can.

250ml can of 'amped up' Canadian taste. Hmmm - 20% more booze, but ~27% less volume, per container - a net loss. I recall buying this when it was new, and wondering why I was being tempted and coddled, at the same time, as an unwitting Canadian (the nationality) beer drinker...now that notion seems so quaint.

This beer pours a crystal clear, pale golden yellow colour, with lots of puffy, frothy, and mildly foamy bone-white head, which settles soon enough, leaving some sudsy swaths of splotchy lace around the glass in the process.

It smells of bready, starchy grain, husky corn, a bit of twitchy and phenolic alcohol warmth, and faint weedy, dead grassy hops. The taste is sweet, sugary pale malt, cornmeal, overcooked veggies that have been in the fridge for weeks, wet paper, and a further bit of stanky grassiness. None too complex, this.

The carbonation is fairly sedate for this style and its ilk, just a soft and lilting fizziness presiding, the body a smidgen heavier than the standard Canadian, and really quite smooth, with a touch of airy creaminess. It finishes off-dry (unfortunately in a corny vein), and gently warm - nothing else has the presence to linger, apparently.

Well, this is hard to believe, but I dislike this way less then when I first drank it (wherein I crushed an 8-pack - novelty being the order of the day), B.B.A. (Before Beer Advocacy). Overall, a simple and even, if generally bland strong Canadian macro lager, the marketing and packaging still the most interesting thing about it.

Purchased at the LCBO as a single and served at 4deg C in a draught glass.

A- Opens well and pours a 1" high white head that lasts a minute before film out. Light to medium gold colour and filtered clear

S- Not much here at all. Really bad scent like a metal can

T- Not so good. Not so happy. Just an alcohol bomb.

M- A North American brew that has a niche... people that don't have time or the stomach to drink good brew. Bet you it's people that a stopping on the side of the highway to slam two beer as it's a different charge to drink a brew while driving but stopping and pounding two outside the car is not DUI LOL

Food Pairing

This not so great beer went well with...... I don't know. It's just a brew designed to slug and drive or slug and whatever. LOL

Enjoy if you can!!!!
