When I saw the XXX in the convenience mart, it was the only stand-out on a shelf of boring pouring budweisers, labatts, millers and coors. I was looking for something with more substance and the 7.25 ABV suggested to me that there might be a chance. While I wasn't entirely disappointed with this beer, and I would probably again choose it over Molson's Export, Gold or Ice, it is a large brewing company brewing a beer that lacks real distinction, interest or style. It was decent in the mouth, decent going down, but if you are looking at characteristic that you might expect in a higher ABV beer...it isn't here. I rate the appearance as the only thing straying from average as it is a deeper golden color, and promised what the taste did not quite deliver.

Well I was hoping for a decent offering from Molson and this comes pretty close, pours a deep yellow with not much head to speak of,aroma is lightly biscuity and grainy and some alcohol notes.Taste is slightly sweet and grainy but not much to it a lightly flavored higher alcohol brew but not much to it. Good for drinking with some bbq but not something to savor by any means.

Pours a pale amber/gold with a small foamy head.
Aroma of sour corn grain & diacetyl.
Peppery, caramel malt flavor but generally a lackluster overall flavor. Slick, sluggishly carbonated mouthfeel. All things considered, the drinkability is pretty poor.

11.5 oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Thin lacing, clear and pale golden straw.

Faint cooked veggie smell with mild husk and faded industrial alcohol.

Alcohol is quick to the tongue, lots of dextrin and alcohol on the palate. Sweet grain and cereal grain with a processed hop bitterness. Rubbing alcohol? Malt twang, rough in the mouth towards the end.

Every-time I sip this beer I have violent vision of sweaty bloody Canadian hockey fans pummeling each-other. I watery beer with only one purpose ... to get drunk, sad beer has to be like this.

Bright and clear straw-yellow colored, with a big white head of tight foam that lingers longs.

Low aroma of corn, grainy sugar and floral notes.

Flavor of sweet and syrupy maltiness initially, followed by some mild phenolic band-aid notes. Some sweet apple and pear emerges also. Alcohol does not seem to detract.

Slick and slippery mouthfeel, but finishes a bit crisp.

Average drinkability, actually better than I expected.

7.3% abv is the only thing that makes this malt liquor worth it, if your trying to get a cheap buzz and a killer headache in the morning we used to drink this stuff on trips to Canada before legal age however there's nothing that special about it. Pours a golden fizzy tone with white head that dwindles quickly leaves decent lace. Aroma consists of alcohol and sweet grainy mix of malts and adjuncts, no real hop profile. Taste: Sweet grainy adjunct ridden with a touch of rustiness, leaves the palate wanting more no real hop bitterness malt liquor is malt liquor however this is a more tolerable rendition. Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a bit more consistency than most mass produced beers artificial carbonation bring on the belches. Drinkability well this beer has no real appeal to someone who really likes beer, however for the person looking for the gimmick of the high alcohol and doesn't know that XXX really stands for a Belgian style triple.

Appearance: Light golden color, head settles quickly leaving a very thin lacing.

Smell: Light, sweet smell.

Taste: Slightly metallic, bittersweet taste with minimal aftertaste.

Drinkability: Easy to become accustomed to the taste of this beer, it is farily light and goes down smooth enough.

Serving Type: Bottle.

Personal Note: I actually really enjoy Molson XXX. My rating is relatively low because in terms of beer, it's a bit wanting.

I drink this beer regularly (typically a case per week), and find that I've grown relatively fond of the taste of it.
I find that it's a great burger/grill food combination.

Lastly, at 7.3% ABV, I don't believe that you will find as light a tasting beer as this, with the same alcohol content.

I may take some flak for this, but I actually enjoy this beer on it's own merits. Lemme explain....

First had this at a hockey game when the Thrashers were playing the Maple Leafs and the beer line wanted to cater to the audience. When in Rome, drink Molson, (if they're out of Peroni, I guess) so I waved my cash and asked for the black can.

Since then I've had this many times away from the ice and it still tickles my fancy.

Strong gold color with a healthy cream head that lingers before evaporating. Decent carbination in the pour and the bubbles stick around for a while.

The aroma does leave something to be desired. I used to sling malt liquor in the UK to the drunks; Special Brew, the purple tin, Kestrel Super, etc.. Sadly, this brew tingles the nose the way those regulars smelled, but they drank that stuff like water, so I can't hold it *that* much against this brew.

I found the mouthfeel to be rich and full and easy to drink. The alcohol was hidden well and didn't burn at all. Hints of corn and adjunct on the palate, granted, but again I knew what I was getting into when I bought this.

Overall drinkability is good.

Some of us can't drink Uncle Pliny's Arrogant Hop Enema each and every day, so this does the trick for me on those occasions when I'm half-way to payday and need something better than Yuengling or PBR.

I personally like it, but taste is a subjective thing.

25.4oz fat can. Another Molson offering that I’ve only even seen in the States. And 'Super Premium', {cough} it would seem.

This beer pours a clear pale golden hue, with three fingers of thin foamy, rocky white head, which leaves a dense snake of lace around the glass as it quickly sets in. It smells of sweet grainy corn, and a bit of saccharine alcohol. The taste is very sweet corn cereal mash, and even more sweetness, but not edginess, from the booze. The carbonation is quite low, the body medium weight, mostly from the clammy, sugary nature, and smooth in the same vein. It finishes with a bit of the grain actually poking through the morass of lingering multivariate sweetness.

As far as malt likkas go, this ain't actually that bad – just too sweet in absence of the expected skank. The name resonates for some reason, though…

DATE TASTED: August 30, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: 22 oz. pilsner glass... OCCASION: watching The Tree of Life and trying to see what the director sees...APPEARANCE: pale golden effervescent body that holds a half-finger, off-white oily head; appears to be a pilsner; tracing is surprisingly consistent... AROMA: high-pitched doughy malts; toasted oats and cereal--not raunchy, but not appealing...PALATE: thin, slightly textured with the warmth of alcohol overtly at the throat; thirst quenching, yes...TASTE: blandly doughy; highly malty--the 40 ounce variety that makes this bitter and slightly abrasive... OVERALL: the XXX appeals for a purely frat-boy infatuation--I recall a good friend proudly plopping this on our curb, proclaiming the party to be "on"...otherwise, this lager scores a few points for not punishing with the alcohol, but t is worth seeking out almost solely for the alcohol per dollar ratio....

AP: Totally clear, very active and bubbly, a Pale golden color with a small and thin but frothy and bubbly white head. Remains active until the end.

Nose: Malted grains and wheat, sour yeast, doughy with a very subtle herbacious hop scent.

Taste: The sour-yeastie and doughy flavors bust out first with a mellow, wheatie and soft-bread-like malted flavor. The suprise is the leafy hop flavor at the end.

MF: Light look and feel, crispy with a decent bite on the tongue and rather foamy-smooth going down.

DA: These brews are usually decent session beers, but just get a bit boring in the long run, this one, at 7.3 % is not a session beer.

this is your "social gathering" kind of beer, i only drink this if i wanna get drunk and want it done quick, 2 quick ones and im buzzed, a few more in a row and im good for the night

12oz bottle poured into a pilsener glass, i think it actually looks and taste(though not much) better in this than a pint glass or straight from the bottle, not much of a smell to it, not a great tasting beer at all(best to just down it), good drinkability because it goes down quick if you dont think about it and you dont need many to feel 'good'

Pours out a gold clear highly carbonated brew with a half finger head that drops quickly.Smells of grain and grassy hops.Taste of a typical macro type, with a little alcohol warmth in the ending.I wont say its horrible, its not, but wayy better macros are out there.

Pours a dark gold with a thin lacing of loose, bubbly head that quickly fades away. The smell is sweet and grainy. The flavor is sweet, grainy, and slightly bitter. The alcohol is evident, adding warmth, body, and a little spiciness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp, warm, and smooth.

For malt liquor this isn't bad. It's got flavor and body, but nothing too special. There aren't any of the off notes one may expect from the style. Rarely ever do I pick up this style, but this would be my go-to if I did.

This adjunct pours a clear golden, with medium lace that dissipates quickly.
Nose is actually pleasant, though corny.
Flavor is quite sweet, again, adjunct and corn/ricey, but smooth.
Nothing special or remarkable, aside from the high 7.3% ABV that it boasts of on the bottle. If flavor isn't your thing, but getting drunk is, here's your poison.
