Black color, good head. Medium bodied beer. Roasted malts, coffee-like flavor, a little too sweet tasting. Full flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodied but not bad. Finish is smooth and a little thin. Aftertaste is dry and malty. the beer has a sweet quilty for the dry finish, but a very refreshing beer.

Well I finally took the plunge on this beer after almost getting it many times, well it pours a pitch black with almost no head at all to speak of.A roasted aroma with some brown sugar sweetness thrown in,the taste is very sweet almost to sweet with a roasted malt flavor that hits toward the finish. Not a bad beer but a little on the sweetside for me.

A: A Dark brown with ruby highlights. The creamy tan head dissipates after a minute leaving a thin film of bubbles on top of the beer.

S: Malty and a light touch of roastiness. There is a moderately-light nectarine fruitiness that borders on sherry/tobacco like aroma suggesting this beer may be a bit old. There is a low floral hops. No diacetyl and no DMS.

T: A malt richness with some roast and firm bitter balance from a moderate hop bitterness. There is a light chocolate and a touch of caramel notes to the malt. The isn't much in the way of hop flavors until a hint of it seems to come out in the finish. The finish is off-dry with an after taste of hops bitterness and an earthy hops flavor.

M: A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation ad a light creaminess.

O: This tastes like a maltier, richer version of a pilsner. The flavor and aromas aren't very lively which is the only flaw in this beer besides the sherry note.

Pours deep mahogany, not quite black, but dark enough to scare off a light beer drinker. It has a brown head that dissolves quickly.

Light chocolaty notes in the nose, with light roast and plum.

The taste is light and slightly fruity, again with the plum, especially in the aftertaste, which I think is the best part as it doesn't start off very strong. Light-medium body with somewhat fizzy carbonation. Doesn't hold its own very well against even semi-challenging foods. Not bad overall, not attention worthy either. Middle of the road.

A: Gues what... its black. Lazy head with good
lacing throughout the drink.

S: Rich aroma, kind of nutty.

T: Nothing outstanding, but I'm not quite
experienced enough with the style to give
proper criticism. After two, I'm still un-
decided.

M: Good mouthfeel, well balanced and not at all
over or underbearing.

D: Very drinkable brew with good carbonation
lacking any truely attributes while at the
same time offering little to set it apart
from others. I need more to decide.

12oz. bottle poured into a shaker pint glass

It pours a deep brown with some chestnut highlights. The head is very impressive in that it's a creamy tan, intricate lacing and last throughout the whole beer with a nice semi-thick layer of foam on top of the beer. It really is a nice looking beer.

The nose is a bit plan, some darker fruits like plum make up the most aroma which is not very much to style and ait alone isn't very pleasing.

The flavor is pretty plain jane, kind of watery with the same non-lagerlike plum fruitiness. The finish is sweet and not very crisp. The mouthfeel is really chewy, almost like there are a bunch of oats in the grist. Just not my idea of a schwartzbier. The drinkability is really hampered as well due to the sweet and chewy nature of this beer but lacks a cohesive element that I'm looking for in a similar beer which is designed to be thick and chewy.

During the pour there was an aroma that I was having a hard time pinning down. After a couple of swirls in the glass to take in that aroma a little better, I found that it smells of sweet molasses. The first taste was interesting. It wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be. A slight sweetness was foremost, presumably from molasses and malts. There are hops present but they are not dominant, making this a very smooth drinking beer. The finish is balanced and quick making you look for that next swig.

This is my first "schwarzbier" and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was sweeter yet lighter than I anticipated and the overall experience was rather enjoyable. Good stuff.

Blackest of black color, coffee like aroma with a hint of fudge, thin but nicely sweet malt taste, a strange but very pleasant aftertaste, there definitely seems to be a nutrasweet type enhancer in here, Simple, one dimensional but yet tasty and refreshing.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. There is no freshness date or abv on the label.

Appearance: It pours into the glass a very dark brown/black color and when held up to the light it shows very dark crimson highlights. On top sits a nice tan head of slow fading foam. A thin cap hangs on to the end. Lacing is mostly slick but there is some sticky lace just up at the top of the glass.

Smell: Sweet roasted barley and bready notes fill the nose. Also there are hints of raw grain and even some very slight white grape and peach candy notes.

Taste/Palate: Just as the aroma suggests there is a good sweet roasted malty character. I also picked up the fruity notes of white grape and sugar covered peach gummy candy. The body is quite easy drinking, about a light medium. Its texture is some with a light or mellow, yet still active carbonation.

Notes: This beer really surprised me. It was very tasty with some nice flavor nuances or complexity while still having a modest body that is very drinkable.

Pours a very dark brown, clear, body with a small tan head that quickly falls into some collar lace. A few small patches of lace are left on the glass.
Aroma has a lot of dark roasty malts, some Munich here, and a hint of coffee and chocolate.
Mouthfeel is light medium bodied with good carbonation.
Taste is similar to "black Bavarian" styles, with chocolate notes, floral hop bitterness, and a hint of dried figs.
Not at all what I was expecting, but a solid "black lager", that is well done. A smooth sipper with no discernable faults. If you like black lagers, you'll like this one.

Standard 12 ouncer sampled, no freshness dating. Pours coal black, with a dark tan head. Medium sheeting/lacing left on the glass. Nose is of tart apples and burnt malt. taste is sludgy burnt malts, raisins, black coffee. Somewhat sweet, not all that pleasing. Thin finish. Doubt I would try this one again

I first had this beer when I was living in Michigan, and again in Arizona. It seems to be at least partially based on the Bock style. Though few liquor stores in the United States seem to carry Xingu, it is nonetheless a worthy find, and definitely a beer that I would buy again!

The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate, but it is fairly faint. The flavor is more pronounced. I get some roasted malt, chocolate and caramel. The beer is very dry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Opened 12oz bottle, poured into Nonic glass.

Pours a frothy head of 1/2" atop a black, soda looking brew. Head dies down to a bubbly layer of lace atop.

This one is sort of hard to describe the smell... First sniff was of malts, but after the head died and bubble became less active, it smelled like a glass of fresh cold milk. Nothing milky about the taste... It is full of dark fruits and malts, a bit herbaceous on the finish. This brew has always been sort of an enigma to me. Every time I have it I expect something much fuller and heavier feeling, but it is light and very pleasant to drink. Bubbles are controlled on palate, making this brew very drinkable.

Its not something I drink often, but it is quite refreshing when I do drink it. I can say that this is the best Brazilian brew I've ever had, but I must qualify that by saying it is the only one I've ever had.

Wanted so much more out of this one. Dark, dark brown with a puffy tan head. Weak aroma fo hazelnut, malt, and pipe tobacco. Watery taste of caramel, nuts, and a fake chocolate milkshake. There are much better beers out there, or maybe I just don't care for Schwarzbiers.
