Well black beer pours black, mind you when held to light some red hues break though so this isn’t the deepest or darkest. There’s a thin head that forms, but in the time to type this it is all but gone.
Chocolate and caramel malt turning to a nice vanilla cream finish. Really nice malty finish here, no hops to be noticed.
Rich dark malts and fruity finishes of hops. Chocolate, caramel, malts are balanced well with a good hop finish, but there seems to be an aged or light amount of them that balances things nicely.
Really easy to drink, a touch under carbonated but the alcohol is non existent.
I’ve always associated the darker malts with sipping high abv beers, but this one like Sam Adams Black Lager shows that the darker flavors can work perfectly in a lower abv beer. I have to say this is good stuff. I’m not sure when I’d seek out a black ale that drinks this well but if dark chocolate and caramel malt with some fruity hops to finish it is what you want but the high abv and a Russian imperial is too much, cheers!

Opaque deep brown, garnet highlights, with a frothy cappuccino head that lingers as a ring.
Nutty, lightly caramelized and toasted malt aroma, with a taste that's sweeter than expected. More caramel than nuts, and minimal roast. There's a slight metallic note. Carbonation is higher than I'd prefer, and it lacks roast for the style.

Black from afar, but a hold to the light reveals clearer ruby at the edges. A head the color and consistency of latte foam.
Figgy. Up front, it's all fruit. Bitter and raisiny, like reduced wine. Earthy hop character, a touch of cocoa powder and toasted wheat bread. Very balanced in the finish, with just a touch of raisiny tang on the sides of the tongue. Clean and light. Brown sugar finish. Reminds of a Belgian Dubbel, almost.
Soft body, cotton balls, light. Moderate, prickly carbonation. Clears the palate after each sip, a street sweeper washing it away. Very easy to drink.
Not incredibly complex, but very drinkable. Would be good at a soccer match on a hot Brazilian day.
