Coal-black with a thin, tight-bubbled tan head. Deep malt nose. Peeking it's head from behind a profoundly roasted barley flavor is a lurking sweetness. A complex and tasty brew from our southern neighbors. Body on the light side is characteristic of the style. This won't be the last time I enjoy a Xingu.

A-Pours a nice dark brown. Faint beige head.

S-Faint caramel and dark malt.

T&M-Dark malt with light toffee, and a café mocha flavor that lingers into the aftertaste. There is also a nice, even slightly dry finish with faint hops. Lighter-bodied and favors the sweeter side. I would enjoy more with a tiny bit more hops.

O-A decent little beer...picked it up at LeClerc, but there seems to be a buyer that goes for an "exotic" brew from time to time, and this is the flavor of the quarter. I'm becoming a big fan of this style, but this is not the greatest of examples. Since there is not a lot of selection in this style, I'm apt to buy it again.

Black in color with a decent tan head, though it disappears quickly.
Aroma is roasty, malty and fruity.
The flavor is a bit sweet for me, but it is a bit roasty. Sweetness is definitely the main characteristic, it is fruity and juice like.
Light in the mouth feel department, but I could in no way shape or form drink a second. The sugary sweetness makes this a bit difficult for me to drink.

I poured a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance- Very dark brown with some red highlights when held up to the light. Thin tan head that disappears quickly. Minimal amount of lacing.

Smell- Caramel with a bit of chocolate.

Taste- Roasted malts with a hint of caramel and chocolate.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Smooth and creamy feel.

Overall- Pretty good beer. Very drinkable, not strongly flavored like most stouts and porters.

Pours black with nice lasting brown head. Aroma and Taste of sweet toasted dark malts some cacao, some light molasses and lightly hopped. Palate is medium body with smooth creamy mouth feel and moderate carbonation. Finish is sweet dark lightly roasted malt, cacao with some light hops. Overall a bit light on the aroma and taste for the style but an ok drinkable brew.

Pours black with a dark brown head. Smells of caramel, chocolate, and malts. Tastes of caramel, nice sweetness from malts, with subtle hints of chocolate. Very medium to thick mouthfeel. Very drinkable, could easily be a good session beer for any evening.

A- Pours a very dark, thick looking dark brown color, similar to Coke or Root Beer. The head isn't very prominent at all, pouring about a half inch in thickness and quickly dissipating into a half moon shaped thin film. Lacing is better with wisps of foam clinging to the side of my glass. From the top of the liquid, I can see that there is modest carbonation rising to the top.

S- Very malty aroma immediately noted, with thick sticky sweetness, with the likes of caramel, cola, toffee, chocolate and dark fruit mixed in here. The finish is not hoppy at all...just lingering sweetness...

T- This is a very nice tasting brew...I like the overall taste, which is closely following the aromas, but there is more of a burnt barley kernel flavor....more Earthy and dry, which balances the sweet caramel and chocolate notes that are found. The finish is has some bitterness, but I find is more astringent than anything....I quite like the balanced nature of the flavor!

M- This has a lighter mouthfeel than the overall appearance would have suggested. I also noticed that there is a sticky, cloying feel that lingers on the palate after the finish, which is a change from the astringent dryness that I tasted immediately after the swallow. Carbonation is smooth and the flavors burst really well on the palate.

O- I find this to be a highly drinkable black lager! I would recommend this one as it is full of flavor, smooth, well balanced and the alcohol doesn't show at all. I would buy this again and feel it would work well with a meal and holds it own too! Solid beer!

Solid Schwarz here, grabbed a single at the local store since the sixer was pushing 10 bucks. Poured into a pint glass, extremely dark with a medium tan head and lots of lacing. Looks like a stout, very nice. Didn't pick up much of an aroma, slightly earthy. Creamy and exceptionally smooth this is easy on the palate. Flavor is good but I wish it were more abundant. Malty and relatively simple, needs more to stand out.

This beer poured a very dark brown with a slight dark brown head. The smell is mostly sweet toasted malt with a bit of dark fruit. The taste is pretty close to the smell, starting off sweet with a bit of raisin. Not much of a toasted or burnt taste, I expected a little more considering how dark it is. The mouthfeel was slightly thick with a mild amount of carbonation. this is a very drinkable beer, and definitely interesting even if I wouldn't call it a great example of the style.

Very dark, no light coming through at all. Tan head that leaves nice lace. Smell is malty with a bit of licorice. Roasted flavor with some chocolate, licorice, and molasses. A little too watery, which takes away some of the taste. Mouthfeel is thin and light. Dry finish and little hop presence. A very different beer. Tastes good as it warms too. Nice as a change of pace.

Pours a dark brownish black, large tan head. light lacing.
Aroma is light caramelized sugar and malt.
Flavor is sweet, coffee with too much sugar kind of flavor.
Creamy mouthfeel with a short and sweet finish.
ok beer. I might buy this again if it were $6 a six pack, but at $8 a sixer I don’t think so.

Pours black with a big tan head. It is a particularly dark shade of black.

Smells of roasted malts, toffee, and caramel.

The taste is a little reminiscent of Smacks cereal served in a pilsner. Honey, toasted grain, and the sweet bready flavors are all hanging around.

The mouth feel is a bit creamy and average on the carbonation.

This is pretty drinkable, actually. It's a good bang for the buck as it is relatively inexpensive.
