Bought a 3 pack of Gnarly Heads from my local Walgreens that included a nice Gnarly Oak glass. The beer poured a beautiful charcoal black color. Very deep black with a touch of amber. The aroma is of quality cocoa and charred wood, which makes for a very intense sensation. The beer has a perfect amount of head and is very frothy in a good way. The mouth feel is gentle and not overpowering from the contributing tastes and aromas and is a very good beer. This was my first brew from Gnarly Oak and am looking forward to trying the other two from the gift set.

Pours a very dark black, with ruby highlights into the provided Gnarly Oak glassware. There's a fair head of tan bubbles, but the lace here is nonexistent.

Aroma is dark cocoa, with some roasty char. Not bad, but not world class, either.

Taste here is sweet and malty for sure. The cocoa powder comes across for certain, but it all turns out rather simple and one-dimensional. And although this is not a bad brew by any means, it does need some fine-tuning to balance and smooth out that sweetness.

This is part of the Gnarly Oak gift pack I bought at Walgreens over the holidays, $12.99 for three 22 ounce bombers and a glass. The third and final bomber for me is their Chocolate Stout. Served in the Gnarly Oak glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both OK. The brew smells like cocoa powder, burnt/charred malt, and some coffee. The taste is pretty much like the aroma, it tastes like ashy/burnt/charred malt, cocoa powder and a bit of dark fruit. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's thin for a stout and has medium/high carbonation. It's an OK brew overall, worth a try once, anyway.

Pours out with a beautiful dark-no black body that leaves much to the imagination. The head, tan, thick and bubbly makes you feel safe like a ship in harbor, and the lacing acts like a bookmarker, reminding where you left off after every tasting. The aroma is comprised of roasted malts, chocolate and mild coffee scents. Its medium-bodied leaning more toward the light end of the scale, but does a good job spreading the flavor evenly. The roasted malts and chocolate flavors are the first things you taste, buts that’s about all I got from it, not bad though. Overall this stout is smooth, good tasting and down pretty well, the alcohol is well hidden in this one.

I got this as part of a three-pack of 22oz. bottles, that contained this beer, their Hazelnut Dark, their Winter Bock, and a nice stout glass, which is what I'm drinking this out of.

A: Pours deep black with a very thin tan head that dissapates quickly.

S: Roasted malt and chocolate.

T: Roasted malt, with espresso and chocolate undertones.

M: Very good mouthfeel, rich and thick. No alcohol detected, and not much carbonation.

O: This is a very good beer. The rich mouthfeel, combined with the roasted malt/espresso/chocolate flavor make this beer a winner in my book.
