1.18L bottle of Extra Strong (Damned Good) Beer! I never noticed their crest before (why would I?): "Extremum bonorum...honestus maturus". Extremely good...properly matured, eh? Doesn't quite fit the presentation, nor the supposed target demographic.
This beer pours a clear, very pale straw colour, with two fingers of thin foamy white head, which leaves some sea-spray lace around the glass as it takes that dive. It smells of sugary sweet bready grain, nail polish remover, and a mild dead flower essence. The taste is more grainy malt, but with the saccharine quotient dialed down a notch (still many notches to go, though), a mild chemical warming, and further subtle undertones of rotten vegetables. The carbonation is fairly soft, the body medium-light in weight, and only a little cloying in its generic white bread smoothness. It finishes still pretty damned sweet, but in a weirdly balanced manner - with what, it's really hard to say, and the aforementioned fumes mostly dissipated.
Well, it's smooth, fairly sweet, and kind of innocuous. The only thing missing is the booze - at 10 whole points, it should make some sort of cameo, don't ya think? Nope, just that mild industrial solvent tingle, that fades into the woodwork rather quickly, and I'm not going to drink enough of this to find out that other way. Man, swanky gutter beer, meet your new leader.
