located in the heart of maplewood. this was once a grocery store i believe that was converted to a brewpub. Schlafly does all of their bottling here and some brewing, hence it is called bottleworks. very industrial looking and non smoking on the inside.

schlafly promotes the local vibe but bringing in locally produced food and even growing their own. it is always very clean and beers are almost always served in the correct glassware.

service here can lack at times. i have waited forever for a hostess or waitress when hardly anyone was there but overall, it is decent. i would never go somewhere else because of it.

the selection is a bit smaller than the Tap Room and there are no casks (although this may be changing unless it already has). they usually have around 10-15 taps or so.

great menu with lots of options. never overly oiled or fatty. a bit healthy in some ways. lots of vegetarian options as well as meat options. a little something for everyone. prices are VERY reasonable.

value - prices for food and beer are great. growler fills are available and usually run around $12 or so, refills are around $8. most menu items are around $10 and under for good portions. brunch is available on select days. outdoor patio that has a fire pit for chilly days (1,275 characters)

Excellent selection of beers, though flights were limited and one was hard-pressed to obtain samples of anything not already included in the fixed-selection flights of six in the restaurant and four at the end of the tour. Still, they had an excellent Scotch Ale available on tap that is not available in bottles and was not offered at the Tap Room (at least not at the time this review was written). The tap list for both the Bottleworks and the Taproom is available online at Schlalfy.com, and I would recommend checking out the selections there before venturing to either location. The food was good, though not traditional pub fare. For instance, bison was a common fixture on the menu (i.e., spaghetti with bison meatballs) though I ultimately opted for a turkey burger with a brie spread and cranberry chutney (which was AMAZING, by the way). We sat on the patio and there were a large number of families with small children; particularly impactful on our experience was the table of small children sitting directly behind us who continued to shriek and wander around our table throughout the entirety of our stay. Perhaps this would not have been the case if we had sat indoors by the bar, but we wanted to enjoy the nice weather and thus it detracted from our experience somewhat. Nonetheless, highly recommended. (1,328 characters)

Unfortunately the few times that I've been there, the service was a little slow, but aside from that it was good. (113 characters)

This is a really cool facility and a great location in Maplewood, but not a great taproom. A good place to tour if you are in STL, but don't expect much from the taproom. The beers on tap were mostly just the standard Schlafly brews that you can find in 6 packs anywhere in MO. The vibe was pretty poor. We planned to be there all night, but had to leave after an hour because the music was so poor. It's a good spot for an older crowd that enjoys the blues and decent beer. (478 characters)

Located in an easy to find area in Maplewood, this brewery has convenient parking and plenty of room. There is a tasting room, bar area, restaurant room, and a small section with local brewing history. Plus, they have a small shop as well. We sat in the restaurant, which was open and clean, but also a little sterile and without much character. The server was young and prompt, but not overly interested. The beer was excellent...especially the coffee stout. Food was typical pub selection, although the deviled egg appetizer is noteworthy. Certainly worth a visit. (573 characters)
