Little 25cl bottle from Brussels.

A: Pours an odd yellow color with a greenish cast; very little head, which dissipates rapidly into nothing. Looks like a standard wit except for the weird greenish color.

S: Grainy and yeasty, with a lot of underlying fruit flavors (banana, apricot), and a touch of coriander.

T: Kind of disappointing after an initial good impression from the nose. Kind of musty grass meets yeast, with a few fruity undertones. Ultimately kind of underwhelming, though not horrible.

M: Moderately carbonated, which helps give this beer a bit more body. Kind of flat - the carbonation seems to almost be trying to overcompensate. Watery.

D: Light enough to drink more than one, but I'm not particularly inclined to.

"Brugs Biere Blanche Witbier" served on-draught into a Brugs goblet in a bar in Brussels, Belgium. Reviewed from notes taken June 2010.

A: Pours a one finger head of slight cream, decent thickness, and average retention. Body colour is a cloudy lemon-yellow.

Sm: Very light aroma of lemon citrus esters.

T: Lemon ester body is more subtle than expected, but lacks a citrusy character. There's a light wheat foundation which threatens to come off weak but manages to simply stay light and refreshing. Very pleasant. Complex enough for a witbier. Subtle and simple, but effective.

Mf: Light, moderately thick, smooth, and wet. Just as it should be. Carbonation is good.

Dr: A fairly priced and refreshing beer that is low in ABV, slides down extremely easily, and is worth a go for fans of the style. A good summer witbier, but held back by its simplicity. Not a great beer for the style, but passable.

A-Typical Belgian Wit appearance, reminds me of Hoegaarden. Lots of fluffy white head. Pale straw colored and cloudy.

S-Clove aroma is strongest note picked up, quite weak in aroma compared to many other of the style

T-Wheat and clove. Just a hint of skunk in this beer. Some orange and lemon notes.

M-Medium bodied and carbonated.

O-Pretty average. Tastes better as it warms a bit.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, coriander and hints of lemon citrus. In the taste, coriander, lemon zest, and orange peel starting with a small sweetness and ending dry. A small bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry lemon zest in the aftertaste. Nice big citrus and quite refreshing.

Look: poured a hazy pale yellow color and with a white head
Smell: Wheat all over the place, yeast, coriander and orange.
Taste: Wheat, sweet, orange and some hints of clove.
Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation, thin bodied.
Overall: Too single dimensional and much wheat for me, adding some lemon helps. There are many better witbeers out there though.

Had this on-tap at a small bar in Brussels.

A - Lightly clouded, fairly pale golden colour. I'm not going to give a rating for the piece of lemon which was stuck on the rim...

S - Sweet, light orange and lemon. Very citrus-y. Mild whiff of some cloves and herbs as well.

T - Quite mild and soothing. The lemon on the glass interferes slightly with the taste but it's not overpowering. Citrus flavours at first with a mild ale taste behind them all. Some of the herbal elements coming through as well.

M - Fairly smooth, some of the herbs help to give this a nice soothing feel with just a tang of orange & lemon.

D - Calm and soothing, very easy to knock back in rapid succession.

For those who get to drink this in its native Belgium, it's important to also point out that this is dirt cheap! I think this was something like 1.50€! Perfect with moules et frites!

Pours cloudy yellow into its flat custom glass, with ample head. Citrusy smell with whiff of wheat, almost floral yeast. Outstanding flavor that trademarks the witbier style the way it was meant to be, light spice and grain that finishes clean and lingers on the palate. Standard carbonation gives it a familiar feel, but the satisfaction in the understated flavors makes it incredibly drinkable. My favorite style for a summer BBQ, this beer was very tasty.

A: It has a light straw colour, the head is not big and didn't last long. No real carbonation.

S: Very light smell which is mostly wheat and nearly absent lemon.

T: Surprisingly little spices and lemon. Monotone test wheat taste and not much else, there is some minor yeast to be found. If I had to imagine how wheat juice tastes like, I would think of this.

M: Rather light and watery.

D: Too monotone and causes me too think of wheat juice. It is easy to drink but comes across as a generic Belgian witbier. Goes down easy and can be refreshing but there is too little substance to it.

Poured from the tap into a branded chalice at the Midi Station in Brussels.

A: The beer is a bright hazy gold color with a 1 finger pure white head that dissipates quickly.

S: Lemon zest and a touch of malt. Not much else.

T: Citrus and pineapple. Finishing slightly spicy. Similar to a Hoegaarden. OK

Nothing exciting or particularly outstanding - just had this one while waiting for the rain to stop.

Nose still very light with a scent of wheat (only 30% of wheat is used in this mix) and a touch of lemon. A distinct lack of spice in the body of the beverage is to be noted and you do not feel that a return to the lemony taste. The aftertaste is also low. This is certainly a refreshing beer but a little too devoid of flavor to be interesting.

A: Hazy lemonade color that's been sweetened with brown sugar. In the light there it's also a bit pink. Not so carbonated.

S: Smells more like a German Hefeweißen than a Witbier. Yeasty!

T: The flavor is quite hollow. Slightly sour and lemony. Grassy too.

M: Other than the sourness, it's fine.

D: I wouldn't jump to drinking another, but another will do.
