Had a bottle in Spain and it has a heavy feel with sweet malt, caramel, wet wheat bread, yeast, some peppery spices like coriander and tea leaf, and then trailing dark fruit like cherry. The ABV is well hidden by the syrupy feel and somehow slides down rather smooth. Not what I expected from a Belgian but still very enjoyable.

Brouwerij Alken-Maes "Judas"
33cl brown glass bottle coded "Best before: L1 385056A1 30/06/23 21.336 11:56" and sampled on 24/11/22
Notes: Brewed with both hops and hop extract.
Look: A clear deep golden body is capped by a massive head of white foam that holds fairly well before dropping and leaves some limited lacing behind.
Smell: Sweet and bready malt is enhanced by fruity notes (apple, subtle banana), yeasty spiciness, floral hops, and a flicker of alcohol.
Taste: Malty sweet and fruity. Notes of dried fruits, golden caramel, honey, vanilla, banana, and snappy alcohol round it out. It's bitter-sweet but definitely more on the sweet side, and it finishes with a lingering maltiness, fruitiness, and spiciness.
Feel: Medium-full in body with a gently zesty and effervescent carbonation that warms to become smooth and creamy.
Overall: There's Duvel, and then there are the copy cats. None of them, however, match Duvel in terms of finesse. This is a clunky, sweet and alcoholic beer that doesn't even come close to mimicking Duvel but has its own charm.

From the bottle, it pours a clear golden color with a large white head that slowly reduces as you watch, but remains around and is continually serviced by a stream of bubbles from the bottom. In the nose, slight hints of fruit. In the mouth, it hits with alcohol and dried fruit first, followed by malt - a unique flavor profile, to me. It ends with a very slight sour taste

L- Deep golden amber, poured clear (it's filtered, ie zero sediment in pour or @ bottle) with 1.5Cm pillowy white head. [10mins post-pour head holding well at c1.2cm and forming huge lacing].
S- Very nice, subtle hints of bright yet deep baked fruit plus a minor hint of it's ABV%.
T+F - Oh!, quite pungent on the first sip, then a very brief twist that reminds me of slightly sour apple, then a big lingering meaty/pungent/ABV% middle. This is my first beer of the day and it's making a big impact. Carbonation is wonderful, it remains until I finish the glass ( and it's harder to achieve such long-lived CO2 in beers this high ABV%).
O- Big and deep, a complex flavour, no rough edges or facets out of place or balance. - I'm currently towards the end of a delivery of 30-40 individual Belgian beers of various types around this ABV% and this one is a stand-out, superb!
BB: 230/08/2021 330ml bottle bought from BeersOfEurope/UK for home delivery. Not cheap £3.69, but as a treat it's well worth it.

A heavy, rich, yeasty, spicy, alcoholic, blonde bier. Very sweet, syrupy and boozy. It’s overwhelmed by the alcohol. Needs more zip (yeast and carbonation).

Es una cerveza con cuerpo medio, y de carbonatación media. En su aroma se distinguen la malta y también un poco de caramelo. Al paladar se siente dulce pero con un final extremadamente seco.

The Judas is indeed a strange beer....in a quirky eccentric kind of way.
Pours clear, similar to pretty much most Belgian Blondes. The head is disappointing given I was expecting fireworks.
Aroma is solid, you get a bitterness and mild hop.
The taste is actually not too bitter, definitely a very dry sharp finish, but the main essence of this brew is the yeasty fruit combo, backed up with hefty amounts of alcohol.....you can smell your own fuelled breath as your tongue starts to pickle with the first slug.
Feel is nice and smooth, only that dry ethanol ending that lets it down in my opinion.
Overall, a strong brew that tastes stronger than it's mediocre 8.5% abv. Not really like anything else I have had, doesn't taste quite like a tripel, and not quite a blonde.....somewhere in the middle.
If you like this, bier du demon is the closest thing I have had, but that really is pure unadulterated rocket fuel.
