This is the best place I have found to buy beer in the Fargo area. Great stop for your harder to find hard stuff to, as well as a pretty nice wine and cigar selection.

Most of the stuff on hand does not stand out to someone from outside the area, but there are a decent number of "harder" to find beers in this area. On a recent trip I scored bells, Ayinger, Breckenridge and others. The make your own six pack area is nice, and a pretty good deal at 9.99 for the pack if you load your sixer up with some of the more expensive stuff on the shelf. Watch out for out of date bottles though, spotted a few.

This spacious liquor barn is impressive. Well lighted, pleasant vibe, and a great selection of wines, spirits, and craft beers including some local brews. Mix-a-six section is not too extensive and the beers are kept on an unrefrigerated shelf. Still, a good variety. Also some imports and specialty beers. Staff are helpful and willing to help with your questions. Worth a stop if you're in the area.

I agree with what others have said about the place. Decent selection for the area with a number of harder to find specialty imports and microbrews. Prices are a bit on the higher side but not terrible. Overall I have been fairly happy with the place, but on 3 separate occasions I have had the misfortune of buying a skunky, past date beverage. One was a lambic, one was a barley wine, and the other was an ale. All were higher end/pricier and were likely sitting on the shelf due to this. All were over a year past due. They told me I could bring them in for a replacement, but it was never worth the hassle for me to do so I just ate the cost. Lesson learned, check the dates. I much prefer Bridgeview in Moorhead but they don't always carry what I need.

very nicely upkept, clean and neat. they do have some leak problems during the melting of snow on their roof, but dont let that deter from the quality.

service is good, if you have a large amount to carry out, someone is always there to carry it for you. if there is something that is out of stock on the floor, they are always more than happy to check in back for more.

selection is good. the best of any fargo stores that i have been to. they are more of a wine shop than a beer shop, but they have a nice selection.

everything went up a dollar a year ago or so when ownership was transfered. more expensive than other stores.

This is by far the best beer store in Fargo. It isn't amazing compared to any store in the Twin Cities, but it gets the job done. They carry a lot of craft beers like Summit, Schells, Leines, Avery, New Belgium, Bells, Goose Island, Flying Dog, Sam Adams and others. They have a few guys who know something about beer there which is good. One thing that bugs me is that they don't seem to get many new brands in. I understand that they can't get some products, but I have seen Great Divide a few miles down the road in Moorhead.

One great thing about Happy's is that their prices are pretty fair on most standard beers. They also have a build your own six-pack which is nice to get to try a lot of different beers.

One thing that does bug me is that I have gotten some beers and found out they were last years stock. This hasn't happened a lot, but it is a major bummer when it does happen.

For North Dakota, this is a great store. I have to agree with previous reviewers in that it is much more geared to wine. That said, plenty of cold 6 packs a good variety. Standard MBC fare, most of the big micros, a very respectible selection of regional beers as well.

When compared with major markets (Minneapolis, Milwaukee, etc) the store is very average. But when you consider what Fargo-Moorhead had before this store opened, it's wonderful.

I haven't been there in a few years, but when I was there the staff was fairly beer illiterate. They knew their wine, and their spirits, but their beer knowledge was quite limited. Despite this, the staff were friendly if not always terribly helpful.

All in all, if you're going to be in Fargo, and you're going to be buying off-sale, this is far and away the best store in the market.

This store is simply a miracle for beer lovers in North Dakota and northern Minnesota. Although it usually boasts about it's wide wine selection, it has a vast array of beers that no other liquor store in the area has. I've done the majority of my beer shopping the past two years at this particular Happy Harry's, and the service and selection is usually solid. It's only been recently that i've approached some of the staff to inquire about selection questions and they have been more than helpful. I'm excited that in the future I can develop a solid relationship and score some more fair deals on different beers. It always has a nice array of rotating seasonals and is always getting in a fair selection of new and hard to find brews. Although most of the floor plan is dedicated to wine, the beer displays are large and prominent. The building is a big red barn on 45th St. right off Interstate 94 in Fargo. It's a must visit for anyone traveling through the area.
