Poured into Pilsner Glass...apple juice golden, with soft head, low carbonation...although held good lacing, & had laced rings to show each mouthful.
Floral grassy hops in the aroma, as it warmed definate honey caramel malty notes. I found this to mainly have the typical lighter lager aroma.
Felt just like a Pilsner - some malts up front, then rounded out with hop bitterness to finish...definately not too complex though.
Mouthfeel felt a little deadpan, could have done with more carbonation given the style. However in saying that I found the drinkability to be easy...like your run of the mill mainstream import, safe enough to want more...& that lingering bitterness was inviting!

Golden yellow in color with an amber hue. Poured with a short fizzy foam that quickly dissipated. Bready and caramel malt aromas are dominant with faint herbal hop and buttery notes. Medium bodied with a slightly oily feel up front followed by a light tangy feel through the middle. Burnt caramel and bready malt flavors up front followed by light herbal hop flavors that try very hard to produce a crisp snap that this style is known for, but it falls a bit short. Finishes with bready, caramel malt aftertaste.

A - darker than expected for this style. White head drops quickly. Some light lacing.

S - very very faint smells. Difficult to perceive. Some rougher jerky like hops.

T - sucker punch of bitterness completely unexpected. Some sweet malty flavors.

M - very smooth and malty with a tiny sparkle of effervescance

D - was expecting a less bold more universal flavor. And was quite surprised by the character of this beer.

Pours a brilliant light golden with a billowy white head that leaves a trail of lace on the glass.

A light sweetness characterizes the nose and is balanced by a sharp hoppiness.

There is a grain and honey flavor in the taste that is quickly countered by the bitter hops.

Thin and crisp and tad too bitter in the mouth. I love hops but the hop finish is way too pronounced to be pleasurable. A bit more sweetness to balance would be nice.

Overall a decent beer. However, the hop bite is just too much for my liking.

A- pale yellow with a big white head that laces like crazy.

S- cereal grain and light corn, grass, lemon, saaz hops.

T- pretty much dead-on with the nose. It's very crisp and easy drinking, with a light spicy bite on the finish.

O- A classic that hits all the classic bohemian pils flavors, but overall there is nothing special. Still, an old reliable.

Rather straight forward and simple. Won't Stand out. Also was rather surprising how easy to drink and enjoy it was. While I may never seek it out again for me. May make a great 'gateway' beer for an adjunct drinker. I have I thing great to say about it and nothing bad~

Green bottle, straw faint yellow beer inside, soapy head, flimsy retention. Nice skunky aroma, me likee.

Taste, hopping good, light, maybe EKG hops, lots of carbonation, light lemon lime mouthfeel to it. Metallic at times, although somewhat complimentary, bitterness existent and satisfying for style. Derive nothing from pale/crystal malt here or the yeast.

Wish these were a little more available, they aren't bad in July/August, but they are a little pricey for what you get.

This beer is Czech in nature - it has that slightly creamy feel to it, and just an edge of hops - but nothing dramatic. If it was ever produced as a high-quality beer, it isn't now. OK, it's a genuine Pilsner, and it's not made from rice, but the rest of the large box of it I bought last week is now taunting me from my garage - I' m afraid I'll have to use it up my less-choosy beer-drinking visitors.

500ml Can

Appearance – Clear golden yellow colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation showing and there is a pretty decent amount of lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Grains, corn, hops, malts

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation. I can taste breads/grains mixed with light hops and some cooked corn. The beer has more of a malty profile than I'm used to encountering in these euro-beers. It finishes with a bready/malty aftertaste with some light hop bitterness.

Overall – One of the better euro-beers available in my area. It's very drinkable and has a nice malty and mildly hoppy taste. I'd drink it again.

hazy golden color with a thin head that dies quickly. saaz hop aroma quickly asserts itself but doesn't overwhelm. sort of a cross between heineken and pilsener urquell. nothing really great, a little thin in the mouth and little carbonation...seems "dead". maybe i got an old bottle.

Pours a deep gold with a frothy 1/2 inch head. Lots of fine lacing. Smells grassy, hint of skunk, nice level of hops.

Taste is grassy, nice noble hops in the finish. Not very complicated. Just the tiniest hint of skunk. Pretty tasty, just a bit watery. Could be a bit more crisp but overall a decent pilsener. Good fo the Atlanta summer.

A pretty decent Czech pilsner. Appearance and smell are pretty bland. That is to be expected given the style however. Clean yellow color, a bit fizzy but no real head or lacing. Smell is pretty weak, a bit of sour and sweet malt. Taste is similar to the smell, but more pronounced.
Mouthfeel is a bit light for my preferance. Drinkability is very easy to swallow.

Crystal clear amber body, with average head, which quickly dissipates but leaves solid lacing. Very strong, skunky aroma, with some graininess in the background. Taste switches those; more graininess, with a slightly skunky finish. Light mouthfeel, with relatively high carbonation. Drinkable, but I'm personally not a big fan of the skunkiness.

330ml bottle

Pours with a medium yellow body, head forms and soon disappates, little retention

Smell, hop bitterness, barley, and a flowery pilsner hop scent

Taste, dry and hoppy, that verging on skunked taste but still, remains fine, good drinkability

Not a bad pilsner

I am assuming that the picture shown is outdated due to a label change. My 500 mL green bottle had a yellowish label with golden trim (not silver). However, "1869 Staropramen Premium Beer Prague" appears on the front label which seems to be the same beer as the one pictured.

A: Very thin head and golden yellow in appearance.
S: Smells like most pilsener beers with plenty of hops.
T: Very light with a medium hop taste.
M: Thin bodied with light to medium carbonation.
D: Nothing special. It is not a very refreshing.

500ml can, best by 12/12, poured into a pint glass.

a: pours a deep golden color, almost reddish, with a fat two-finger white head that stays around for a long time. excellent lacing.

s: malty and grassy, a nice floral lightness to it from the hops.

t: a nice smooth maltiness, clean and grainy, with the hops and carbonation giving it a nice crispness.

o: enjoyable, a solid pilsener, pretty simple which sometimes is exactly what you want.

A: Deep, bright gold/amber; very clear and quite bubbly. Two-inch white head rears-up then dissipates quickly to skim that holds. Very little lacing.

S: Sweet rich malt and slight hop bitterness.

T: Bready sweet malt with classic hop bitterness of the style. Dry, earthy aftertaste.

M: Medium body. Smooth, coats the mouth.

D: Very easy to drink. A little fullness from carbonation, but good enough taste, I'd deal with it.

I drank this from a bottle at my local grocery store in Germany. Clear gold color with a great looking head, really a good look for a pilsner.

The smell is a bit like old hay and honey, with no hops to speak of, but the taste is hoppier and also very sweet, with some orange/lemon flavor and a tart and spicy end.

The mouthfeel is thin but very, very well carbonated, and although there's nothing all that special about it, it's definitely a very smooth and drinkable beer.

11.2 ounce bottle - $1.39 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Best Before End: 25.05.2010.

Appearance: Pours a coppery-toned body with a tall, airy, snow white head. Speckled lacing on the way down. If nothing else, it doesn't look solid.

Smell: Initially skunky, as one would expect from green bottles, but, thankfully, it's Laundry Day here, so that'll give it ample time to waft away. Nose of grainy baked bread lightly brushed with sweet cream butter and accented by notes of grassy, lemony hops.

Taste: Light pale malts which are both bready and grainy. Lightly sweet. Faint hint of butter. The hops present predominately grassy and lemony tastes, but there's a slight underlying earthiness in there as well. The bitterness, though pronounced when set against the light malts, is still fairly light overall. Finishes dry and reasonably crisp with one final hint of buttered breadiness.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Drinkability: Not altogether terrible for a mass-produced brew from the Czech Republic's second largest brewery. A little malty, a little bitter, a little skunky, and you're done!

Clear gold colored with a very nice white head that subsides to just a ring and some decent lacing after a couple of minutes.

The aroma is grainy, grassy, slightly spicy.

The taste is also grainy malt with a definite hops bite, definitely metallic at the finish.

Light body, malty, clean and refreshing.

Poured into a fluted pilsener glass. The beer is a pure deep golden color. A fizzy white head sits on top, and hardly dissipates at all. Nice thick foamy lacing on the glass. The smell is dank, skunky, and like damp malt. The beer tastes better than the smell, thankfully. Malt grains, adjuncts, and a sightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied.

Overall, I expected more, but this is your typically skunky green-bottled pilsner (i.e. Pilsner Urquell).

Staropramen is also made in Apatinska brewery,i tried original Chech also, and the difference is huge. It is poured from the can.

A- Big foam, that lasts about 5 minutes. Sunset orange color with medium carbonation.

S-Very nice smell, high hops aroma with some citrus tastes.

T/M-As i said, typical Czech pilsner, high bitterness, refreshing pilsner taste, very high hops aroma. Carbonation is not that high.

O-Very good authentic Pilsner. It remind me on best Helles lagers i tried,or is it opposite.
