Served cold from 660ml green bottle into Veltins pilsner mug.

L) Very attractive deep amber colour, clear, fluffy slight off-white head, lots of big bubbles rising.

S) Green bottle. Skunk is there for a minute. Also the grassy pilsner hops we know and love.

T) Slightly bitter hops, with a nicely warm edge, refreshing light pilsner malt. A good Czech pilsner taste. Slight bitterness in the aftertaste.

F) Typical Czech pilsner, refreshing as beer as you can find when cold. Slightly bitter aftertaste takes the score down slightly.

O) I've had a lot of bottled Czech pilsners, and this can hold its head up high amongst them. Bonus point for 660ml bottle, when Budvar and Urquell come in 500ml. Bonus point subtracted for the green bottle. Follow Urquell's lead and go for brown bottles, guys.

Smells iron, boiled eggs, a little bit sweetness. Iron and sour aftertaste. Despite its trademark it's just another eurolager.

It is an ok pilsner, not as good as pilsner urquell but not bad. Smooth and easily drinkable, a good session beer but I think I will stick with my local lager when I want this style of beer.

Orange golden body with a dense white apex. Aromas of grain, fruity lager yeast. Subtle aroma overall. Easy drinking, light sweetness, grainy finish, subtle earthy quality. Bready, yeasty, simple, tasty. A nice pils.

I'm not an expert, but for the average consumer, this is a real must have!

Fairly average Euro Pale Lager. Great feel, and I could easily consume this on a overly warm day. However, if not served cold it has a vaguely metallic feel - while being subtly bitter in a problematic manner.

I have a bottle less than 5 weeks old from the back of the bottom shelf. It’s fresh and not skunky. L: Brilliant deep polished gold with a 1” pure white foam collar that slowly dissipates and leaves light lace. S: Clean, rich complex Pilsener malt aromas. No estery, apple or movie popcorn aromas T: Crisp and clean with complex malt flavors with a little tanginess. Soft, rounded bitterness that is assertive but is in balance with the malt. F: Light, above average carbonation. O: A good representative of the style.

Lovely pilsner style lager, with a 'thicker' smoother taste and feel than Pilsner Urquell for example.
Great malty smell to it and colour is typical pilsner / lager gold. Pours well and a nice head it left which stays around for no more than a average time.
Overall a great lager / pils to enjoy with anything I would say. nothing too special but one of my favourites.

After drinking this right after a Pilsner Urquell, I think I'm just not quite into the super bitter hops quite yet. This looks a lot better poured than the Pilsner Urquell as the head and lacing stick around quite a bit longer. It gets a little higher rating in taste because it is slightly less bitter than Pilsner (not that much though).

Way overly carbonated, very little malt character, almost acerbic hops.

I'm backed up on entering my bottle caps into Beeradvocate so I do not remember the specifics on why I put Staropramen in my 1/10. I do recall generally disliking it and finding essentially no redeeming factors.

Good looking appearance nice head some lace. Smell had a light whiff of skunk that left quickly. Taste is malty with less sharpness from the herbal hops than many others of this style but well balanced. Mouthfeel is light to medium with a semi dry finish. Carbonation is just enough. Overall an easy drinking Lager that would be good with almost any type of meal. I enjoyed it very much.

I tend to enjoy Czech beers. Perhaps its the smell - fresh and outdoorsy. There's a little bitterness to it, which I like. This is beer as beer should be, not that watery American adjunct lagers that we all have to drink from time to time. Having said that, I would not drink this as my lawnmower beer. This would be for after dinner, sitting on the veranda listening to the crickets on a Spring evening, after the first mow of the lawn.

A Czech Pilsner from the Czech Republic! Imagine that.

Serving style : 11.2 oz bottle poured into standard beer glass.

Appearance (3.5) : A 2 finger head with a marshmallowy appearance. Body is somewhere between a lager and a brown ale. It's got a honey golden brown hue to it but is still transparent like a lager should be. Head recedes to a finger and leaves almost no lacing.

Aroma (3.25) : Onion, sour malt, wet hay. Smells like a pilsner. A little hop aroma, too. Bouquet is medium strength.

Taste (3.25) : The hay aroma makes itself evident in the taste, but is astonishingly saved by a pleasant hop bitterness and malty backbone. The hop bitterness comes on like a pale ale but leaves in a split second, dissolving into malt flavour. There's a hint of diced onion and corn. There's also a semi-sweet milk chocolate flavor in there. Maybe it's in my head. It's flavorful but not excellent. It is refreshing.

Mouthfeel (3) : Light to medium bodied. Light zip, light creaminess. Not bad.

Overall (3.08) : Yeah, I wouldn't buy this again. But it was a nice chance to try an import lager. These are for sure different than your run of the mill American lagers.

Drank it from a chilled 12 oz. bottle.
Color: pale golden, poured into a lager glass, two fingers of head which keeps for a minute or two. Substantial lacing.
Aroma: straw, hay, light barley.
Taste: Refreshing lager taste. The hay aroma continues into the mouth. Beer does not have any complex flavors (lagers usually don't) -- very straight and narrow taste but an honest taste that harkens back to the original Czech lagers.
Mouthfeel: Nothing significant to report. A very refreshing beer that goes down easy.
